Disney+ offers a wide variety of popular franchises, and this action-packed series – from one of their biggest – is definitely a standout show. It’s one of the most thrilling series in the genre available on the platform. With plenty of original shows and other series to choose from, Disney+ consistently delivers great entertainment for its subscribers.
If you’re looking for something thrilling, check out A Shop for Killers, a South Korean action series. For fans of big franchises, both Star Wars and Marvel shows are available, offering plenty of sci-fi adventures.
If you’re looking for action in the Star Wars universe, check out the live-action series Ahsoka, Andor, and The Mandalorian, plus the fantastic animated show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The Marvel Cinematic Universe also has a lot of action-packed series, including both newer Marvel Studios projects and older favorites.
I’ve been checking out the Marvel shows on Disney+, and while things like Echo and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye are good, I think the shows that used to be on Netflix – what they call The Defenders Saga – are the best. Especially Daredevil – it feels so much more realistic and gritty than a lot of the other stuff.
Daredevil Is The Best Show In Marvel’s The Defenders Saga
The Defenders Saga consists of six Marvel shows. Five of these were individual series that ran for multiple seasons, while one – The Defenders – brought all the heroes together in a single, event-style season. Marvel initially created shows for Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. The Punisher wasn’t originally planned, but it was created after Jon Bernthal’s impressive portrayal of the character in season 2 of Daredevil. While most of the shows were well-received, Daredevil is widely considered to be exceptional.
The Netflix series Daredevil, spanning three seasons of 13 episodes each, successfully blended its source material with compelling storytelling and action. The show wasn’t rushed, allowing for strong character development throughout. All three seasons are critically acclaimed – it boasts a 92% critics’ score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Many fans consider Daredevil‘s fight choreography to be the best in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, praised for its realism, impactful strikes, and the way characters visibly fatigue during prolonged battles. The series is also known for its willingness to kill off characters.
Disney+ Also Holds Daredevil’s Perfect MCU Sequel
I was really heartbroken when season 3 of Daredevil turned out to be the end, after Netflix canceled all those great Marvel shows. But I was so relieved that Marvel didn’t forget about Charlie Cox and everyone else involved! It meant the world to me when they brought him – and other familiar faces – back in Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, almost seven years later. While the first season wasn’t a flawless continuation of what came before, it sounds like they had to shift gears mid-production. They decided to lean more into big superhero action instead of focusing as much on Matt Murdock’s life as a lawyer, and I’m still excited to see where they take it.
Despite a slightly slow start, the first season of Daredevil was excellent. Season 2, titled Daredevil: Born Again, really hit its stride and became the perfect continuation of the series – even surpassing the original with improved action sequences thanks to Marvel’s visual effects budget. The show maintained a dark tone and realistic character portrayals, making it a standout action thriller. Now, all five seasons of Daredevil are available on Disney+, and a sixth season, Daredevil: Born Again, is expected in 2027.
