2026 is shaping up to be an amazing year for us collectors! We’ve already seen so many awesome toys hitting shelves and convention floors. And now, two figures that were released before are getting a special, battle-worn repaint just for conventions – I can’t wait to finally add them to my collection!
New photos have surfaced of special edition “Battle Damage” Grimlock and Megatron figures coming to the ACGHK 2026 Hasbro Hong Kong Fan Expo. These updated versions of previously released Transformers Studio Series toys feature extra battle damage details. They’re launching just in time for the convention, coinciding with the release of their related movie.
Megatron and Grimlock Show Battle Scars in Exclusive New Transformers Reveals
The recently released updates for Megatron and Grimlock are new paint jobs of their toys from the Transformers Studio Series ’86 line. These figures are based on the characters from the original 1986 Transformers movie, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. However, Megatron was significantly updated to reflect a more modern design, rather than just being a simple repaint.
As a long-time Transformers fan, I was a little surprised when I learned Megatron’s new form! They decided to have him transform into a tank instead of his classic Walther P38 gun mode from the original series – apparently, that design was a bit too controversial to bring back. But don’t worry, they didn’t abandon his weaponry completely! He still has a smaller gun that hints at his original form, along with his awesome fusion cannon and that incredible energy sword he wielded in the movie – it’s like a lightsaber, and I loved it!
Unlike previous versions, these new figures come with battle damage – Megatron’s specifically reflects the injuries he sustained in his last fight with Optimus Prime. Grimlock still transforms into a robotic T-Rex and includes a blaster and a small, non-transforming Wheelie figure.
These toys will be available at Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2026, but you won’t be able to just buy them directly. Instead, customers who spend around US$575 (or $4500 Hong Kong dollars) will receive one. With only 40 of each toy available, they’re sure to be popular collector’s items.
Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2026 will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 24th to 28th, giving fans a chance to win these toys during the event.
