Ben Stiller’s latest movie is set to premiere on Apple TV this month, and it’s already receiving positive reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
This actor and producer has collaborated with Apple TV on several projects, including the show High Desert and the upcoming series Protective Custody and The Off Weeks. He also worked on the documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost. He’s best known for Severance, a sci-fi thriller that he executive produced and directed for the streamer.
Ben Stiller will remain with Apple TV+ for the new sports comedy, The Dink, which recently launched on Rotten Tomatoes with a 76% approval rating from critics. Reviewers have praised the film as humorous, enjoyable, and boldly unconventional, highlighting its strong characters and skilled actors.
Despite generally positive reception, some reviewers criticized The Dink for including unnecessary scenes and a lack of surprises. One critic suggested it was only good enough to play softly in the background during meal preparation.
Ben Stiller produced the film The Dink alongside John Lesher, Rob Paris, Mike Witherill, and Jake Johnson. Josh Greenbaum directed it, based on a screenplay written by Sean Clements.
In addition to working behind the scenes, Ben Stiller and Johnson also star in the project, alongside a talented cast including Mary Steenburgen, Ed Harris, Chloe Fineman (who recently announced her departure from Saturday Night Live after seven seasons), Patton Oswalt, Chris Parnell, Martin Kove, Aaron Chen, Christine Taylor, Lynne Marie Stewart, Cayden Romero, John McEnroe, and Andy Roddick.
In the movie The Dink, Johnson plays Dusty Boyd, a former tennis star who takes up pickleball to help rescue a struggling club. Before this, he was widely recognized for his role as Nick Miller on New Girl, which earned him a nomination for a Critics’ Choice Television Award.
He’s also been in several TV shows, including Stumptown, Lost Ollie, Minx, and Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. On the big screen, he’s appeared in films like A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, 21 Jump Street, Jurassic World, and the 2017 version of The Mummy. Plus, he provides the voice of Peter B. Parker in the Spider-Verse movies, with the third film scheduled for release in June 2027.
In addition to his upcoming film The Dink, Ben Stiller is preparing to shoot season three of Severance. The popular Apple TV+ show, which premiered in 2022, has already won and been nominated for several Emmy Awards.
Ben Stiller is returning as Greg Focker in Focker-in-Law, the latest movie in the Meet the Parents series. The film also stars Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Ariana Grande.
The Dink will be released Friday, July 24 on Apple TV.
