Despite a stunning trailer for a fellow student’s film, Avengers: Doomsday, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also generating buzz. With its global release just ten days away, excitement is definitely building.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland will star in his fourth movie as Spider-Man – likely the first film in a new series of adventures. He won’t be facing these challenges alone, though! Zendaya, who plays MJ Watson, and Jacob Batalon, as Ned Leeds, have been with him throughout all of his previous films, which has even surprised those closely following Peter Parker’s journey.
Vital Spider-Man Star Believed He’d Be Gone By Now
He added that they felt fortunate to be involved again, recalling that the experience of filming No Way Home was emotionally challenging for everyone, and he personally cried a lot on the final day.
Considering what happened in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it makes sense that Jacob Batalon’s character thought it was his last time acting. The final spell Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) cast – at the heartbreaking request of Peter Parker – made everyone forget Spider-Man’s identity, which had been exposed to the world by Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
How Much Longer Will Marvel’s Spider-Man Trio Last?
Because Spider-Man: No Way Home ended without tying up all loose ends, Marvel Studios had many options for where to take the story next. They’ve decided to focus on Peter Parker growing into a more mature hero as he learns to control his powers.
The next movie will focus on Peter Parker trying to stay connected with MJ and Ned, even though they don’t realize he’s still their friend…and Spider-Man. It will also bring more established comic book elements into Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series and shift the focus back to him fighting crime as a neighborhood hero in New York City, moving away from the multiverse storylines of the last two films.
Okay, so I’m seriously worried about MJ and Ned now. Poor Peter has already been through SO much – losing Aunt May to the Green Goblin was brutal, and then Tony Stark in Endgame… it feels like everyone he cares about is a target. Seriously, they need to be extra careful, because history tells us things can go south fast (Gwen Stacy, anyone?).
They say death comes in threes, after all.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters worldwide on July 31, 2026.
