Brand New Day’s Version Of Spider-Man Properly Fulfills 64-Year-Old Peter Parker Story After Trilogy

A popular hero who has been missing for a while is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon.

After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker’s life has completely transformed. Now that everyone has forgotten he’s behind the Spider-Man mask, he’s facing life alone.

At a recent press event for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland (who plays Spider-Man) discussed how the next film will show his character at his best – truly embodying what it means to be Spider-Man in New York City. He told ScreenRant that, at the beginning of the movie, Peter Parker is doing really well as Spider-Man and has a strong connection with the city. The story will then explore what happens when different aspects of his life collide, which Holland and the team are excited to portray.

He explained that the contrast between the glamour of performing on a global stage and the reality of everyday life – like coming home to a messy apartment with a headache – felt very authentic to the experiences of young people today. Seeing these moments reflected, even on social media, felt incredibly relatable. He was drawn to this idea and wanted to tell a large-scale story that he believed would deeply connect with that generation.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will now show Peter Parker navigating life as Spider-Man without help from the Avengers or their technology. This lets him rely on his own skills and abilities, highlighting what makes him a great hero. We’ll also see his new costume, which he designed himself for the first time in years.

The upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place several years after the 2021 film, so viewers will likely learn what Spider-Man has been doing in the meantime. The trailers released so far show him fighting a range of villains, including lesser-known characters like Boomerang and Tarantula.

Although Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the last movie focusing on a single hero in Phase 6, Marvel has two more big films planned to wrap up the Multiverse Saga. After Tom Holland’s summer hit, audiences can look forward to Avengers: Doomsday releasing December 18th of this year and Avengers: Secret Wars coming out on December 17, 2027.

It’s currently unknown if Spider-Man will appear in the upcoming Avengers films, especially considering the events of Brand New Day happen before Doomsday. With Secret Wars beginning production this summer, we’ll soon find out if Tom Holland is among the secret cast members involved in the conclusion of Phase 6.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31.
