Spider-Man’s Most Dangerous Villain Officially Returns With A Shocking, Upgraded Redesign

Spider-Man faces many frightening enemies, but two villains especially terrify him – and things are about to get much worse. A terrifying new threat has emerged for your friendly neighborhood hero.

Carnage is an especially dangerous villain formed when a deadly alien symbiote bonded with the serial killer Cletus Kasady. Green Goblin is also incredibly dangerous, a sociopath with split personalities – including Norman Osborn’s alter ego, who is always prepared to kill Spider-Man.

Thanks to The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #4, Carnage and the Green Goblin have merged into one being. Carnage can take over anyone, but he specifically seeks out the most disturbed and unstable hosts, making the Green Goblin a perfect match.

Things are getting dangerous at the Spider school! Norman Osborn’s tough training is pushing the Spiders to their limits, and now, on top of that, someone—or something—may be hunting students on campus!

Green Goblin is Carnage’s New Host in Terrifying Spider-Man Twist

Picture the Green Goblin’s craziness and advanced technology mixed with Carnage’s brutal power and bloodlust – that’s the kind of terrifying opponent Spider-Man is about to face, and it’s going to be his toughest battle yet.

While Venom has generally been open to the idea of protecting people and working with human partners, Carnage has always reveled in destruction and had no regrets. According to a review by Nicholas Ayala of The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Versity #4, Carnage briefly pretended to be a hero by taking orders from Eddie Brock and joining the New Avengers, but this was just a tactic – he never truly changed his ways. The illusion of moral improvement was based on someone having control over him.

He explained that Carnage had been looking for an opportunity to give in to his violent urges, and needed a cruel human partner like Norman Osborn to do it.

Will Carnage Ever Face Off Against Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man?

Okay, so it’s probably never going to happen, but wouldn’t it be amazing if they somehow combined Carnage and the Goblin into one villain for one of the next Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland? I know it’s a long shot, but a fan can dream!

Tom Hardy gave it his all portraying the famous Marvel villain in Venom: Let There Be Carnage. While Woody Harrelson, a talented Emmy and Oscar nominee, played the part, many felt he wasn’t quite right for the role, and fans are hoping the character will be revisited with a different actor in the future.

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a bit of the Venom symbiote appeared in another universe. Plus, in a scene after the credits of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Tom Hardy’s Venom hinted at a future fight with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. This suggests that Carnage could also reappear in a future movie.

Or, at least, one can hope.
