Derek Kolstad, the creator of John Wick, is sharing news about his first adaptation of a popular video game series that’s been around for 35 years.
Lionsgate has chosen Jeymes Samuel, the director of films like The Harder They Fall and The Book of Clarence, to helm their upcoming Streets of Rage movie. The screenplay was written by Pay Casey and Josh Miller, with Derek Kolstad having previously worked on an early version. Erin Westerman, head of Lionsgate’s film division, announced the news.
Streets of Rage needed a director with a powerful and dynamic vision, and both we and SEGA believe Jeymes Samuel is that person. His energetic style and incredible music choices will appeal to longtime fans and newcomers alike. We’re thrilled to see his unique interpretation of this classic game series.
