Daredevil has become incredibly well-known over the last ten years. While the character was always a favorite among comic book readers, the Netflix (and now Disney+) TV series significantly boosted his popularity. Charlie Cox’s portrayal of Matt Murdock introduced Daredevil to a wider audience, revitalized the character, and encouraged many fans to explore the comics he originated from.
This character’s popularity is understandable. He has a consistently cool look with different outfits, and his powers are truly one-of-a-kind. What really sets him apart is his ability to battle bad guys both physically and legally, working alongside heroes like She-Hulk. Plus, his internal struggles and flaws make him a more compelling and relatable character, as he’s often battling his own inner demons alongside external threats.
Because of this, he’s appearing in more projects that combine different artistic mediums, and there’s one coming up soon! That’s right, Daredevil will be taking a leading role in a new project very shortly, according to Comicbook.
Fantasy Flight Games has announced that Daredevil will soon be playable in the card game Marvel Champions. Unlike some card games, Marvel Champions doesn’t use random booster packs – each set contains a fixed collection of cards. It’s a cooperative game where up to four players can team up to battle villains, and it can also be played solo.
The cooperative card game Marvel Champions began in late 2019 with a focus on the Avengers. Over time, it expanded to include teams like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Champions, Web Warriors, X-Men, and X-Force. In July, Daredevil will become a playable hero with the release of the Fear No Evil expansion. This box features Daredevil and Echo as the two playable heroes and includes six scenarios centered around Daredevil’s nemesis, Kingpin, and his allies—Purple Man, Typhoid Mary, Hammerhead, and Bullseye.
Most Marvel Champions boxes come with a series of scenarios that tell a connected story, but you don’t have to play them in order. The game also lets you customize each villain’s deck, mixing in cards from different sets. For example, you could give Kingpin a Goblin Glider, enhance his abilities with technology from Mister Sinister, or even add enemies from the Guardians of the Galaxy.
With the recent release of Fear No Evil, Marvel Champions is launching a new series of content. This summer will see the arrival of hero packs for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, followed by the Shadowland box set featuring Daredevil in the fall. Finally, Elektra and Iron Fist will get their own dual hero pack release this winter.
Get ready for a year of thrilling street-level action with Daredevil leading the charge! The Defenders are finally joining the world of Marvel Champions, and fans have been waiting for this for a while.
