DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation have announced a new animated movie trilogy, and will be previewing the first film at next month’s International Animation Film Festival. This movie will be based on the popular “Knightfall” storyline from DC Comics in the 1990s.
“Knightfall” is a famous Batman story where the villain Bane severely injured Bruce Wayne, breaking his back. This forced Bruce to temporarily give up being Batman. A new, much harsher hero took his place, and Bruce had to recover and fight to become Batman again.
Fans of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy might notice similarities between this story and the plot of The Dark Knight Rises, where Tom Hardy portrays the villain Bane. This storyline served as one of the inspirations for that film.
Jeremy Adams wrote the script for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, which Jeff Wamester is directing. Jim Krieg, Kimberly S. Moreau, Sam Register, and Michael Uslan are producing the film.
