Sam Raimi & Dylan O’Brien’s R-Rated Horror Thriller Instantly Becomes The #1 Movie In The World

The new horror thriller directed by Sam Raimi and starring Dylan O’Brien quickly became the world’s most popular movie, without needing any extra promotion.

Sam Raimi is a highly respected director, particularly known for his work in horror, including the Evil Dead films. He famously directed all three Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire. More recently, he returned to the superhero genre by directing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before that, his last horror film was Drag Me to Hell, released in 2009.

Sam Raimi’s latest horror film, Send Help, premiered on Disney+ on May 7th and quickly became the most-watched movie worldwide. It’s currently the third most popular title on Hulu in the US and is topping the charts in countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Mexico, and Peru, among many others. The film is performing better than popular titles like The Devil Wears Prada, a special preview of The Mandalorian and Grogu, a surprise episode of The Bear titled “Gary,” Zootopia 2, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and Avengers: Infinity War.

In the film Send Help, O’Brien plays Dylan Preston, a self-absorbed CEO whose world is flipped upside down when he’s shipwrecked on a tropical island with his employee, Linda Liddle (Rachel McAdams). He previously treated Linda poorly – denying her a well-deserved promotion and even planning to fire her – but now, stranded on the island, he’s completely dependent on her for survival, reversing their usual power dynamic.

Critics loved Send Help, giving it a 93% “Certified Fresh” rating and an 87% audience score. Many reviewers celebrated it as a successful return to horror directing for Sam Raimi after a 17-year break. Todd Gilchrist from ScreenRant gave the film 9 out of 10 stars, describing it as a classic adventure – funny, scary, and exciting – but with a unique twist: characters who don’t necessarily like each other.

Not only was Send Help a critical success and later a popular streaming title, but it also performed well in theaters, earning $94 million worldwide on a $40 million budget. The film showed impressive endurance, with ticket sales dropping by less than 1% during its third weekend in cinemas.

The hit movie Send Help, which quickly became a box office success earlier this year, is now available to stream. Fans can enjoy Sam Raimi’s return to the horror genre and strong performances from stars Rachel McAdams and Natty O’Brien in the comfort of their homes. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift wrote the film, which also features Edyll Ismail, Dennis Haysbert, and Xavier Samuel.

Send Help is now streaming on Hulu.
