As a total cinema fan, I’ve been watching Pedro Pascal really hit his stride lately! He’s been popping up everywhere – a quick appearance in the Marvel universe as Mister Fantastic, then absolutely crushing it as Joel in The Last of Us, and of course, becoming a favorite as Din Djarin in Star Wars. It feels like everyone’s finally noticed what a fantastic actor he is. And with Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn also gaining so much buzz, it’s no surprise a really great film featuring both Washington and Pascal is suddenly getting a lot of love on streaming again.

Gladiator 2 Just Hit The Netflix Movie Charts Once More

Nearly two years after its theatrical release, Gladiator 2 is again a hit, reaching the top 10 most-watched movies on Netflix worldwide. From April 27th to May 3rd, 2026, it ranked as the tenth most popular movie on the platform, according to Netflix’s official data on Tudum.

It’s notable that Gladiator 2 is charting again on Netflix, considering it was already a top ten hit globally back in August 2025 when it first became available on the streaming service.

As a movie fan, I’m always impressed when a film really connects with audiences. It’s a big deal for any movie to become a hit, but Gladiator 2 managing that twice, in two different years, is seriously noteworthy. Still, honestly, it wasn’t a huge shock. The first Gladiator was massive back in 2000, and this sequel clearly has a lot of big names attached, so it kind of made sense it would do well.

Gladiator 2’s Netflix Milestone Is All The More Interesting After The Movie’s Theatrical Results

Although Gladiator 2 performed reasonably well in theaters, its release was somewhat overshadowed by Wicked. Both films came out on November 22, 2024, and Wicked became one of the year’s biggest hits, likely reducing Gladiator 2‘s potential box office earnings. This was further compounded by some viewers feeling the sequel didn’t measure up to the original Gladiator film.

Considering all of this, the continued popularity of Gladiator 2 on Netflix is important for understanding its long-term influence. While its initial box office numbers don’t tell the whole story, the film’s streaming success suggests it remains a popular and impactful work.

Although Gladiator 2 earned $462 million globally with a production budget of roughly $310 million (according to Box Office Mojo and The Hollywood Reporter), this might traditionally be considered a financial disappointment – films usually need to earn 2.5 times their budget to be successful. However, its continued popularity on streaming services suggests the film’s overall success shouldn’t be dismissed.

As a huge fan of Gladiator, I was thrilled to hear rumors about Gladiator 3 – especially after Ridley Scott hinted at it back in August 2025! And it’s really encouraging to see Gladiator 2 still doing so well on Netflix. It suggests the franchise has staying power, and hopefully, that translates to big things – and maybe even another successful movie – down the road.
