9-1-1: Nashville Is Returning For Season 2 – Everything We Know

The popular drama 9-1-1: Nashville has been renewed for a second season! After being cancelled by Fox, ABC took a chance on the show, and it’s proven to be a great decision. 9-1-1 continues to attract strong viewership each week and has become successful enough to inspire another spin-off series within the Ryan Murphy television universe, which premiered in the 2025-2026 season.

Soon after 9-1-1: Lone Star finished its season, the creators quickly began developing a spin-off set in Tennessee. Led by Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, and LeAnn Rhimes, 9-1-1: Nashville is a bit more focused on drama and personal relationships than the original series. However, it’s proven popular with viewers, and ABC has decided to renew it for another season.

9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 Is Officially Confirmed By ABC

ABC renewed 9-1-1: Nashville for a second season back in March, well before the usual end-of-season decisions. This early renewal reassured fans who were concerned about cancellation and, importantly, allowed the show’s writers to plan a season finale knowing they’d be back for the 2026-2027 television season.

When Will 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 Release?

CBS has finalized its fall 2026 schedule, but ABC is still working on theirs. This is probably because they’re considering when to launch new shows. With 9-1-1: Nashville being a new series, there’s no established release pattern to follow. Traditionally, 9-1-1 has premiered in the fall with shows like Grey’s Anatomy, High Potential, and Abbott Elementary. It’s likely the new 9-1-1 series will follow suit, but 9-1-1: Lone Star was once moved to midseason, so ABC could choose to stagger the releases of these shows from creator Ryan Murphy. That could be a good option for 9-1-1: Nashville.

What 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2’s Story Will Be

The drama in ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ revolves around the complicated relationships within the Hart family, particularly Don Hart. Unlike some shows that begin with the establishment of a firehouse, this series jumps right into an existing team at Firehouse 113. The central conflict began when Don’s previously unknown son, Blue, entered the picture and started building a relationship with Don, his wife Blythe, and brother Ryan. Everyone has been welcoming so far, but the tension comes from Dixie, Blue’s mother, who still has feelings for Don.

Expect more intense drama in season 2 of 9-1-1: Nashville, especially as Blythe and Don’s marriage struggles with the fallout from Dixie’s actions. The show will also start exploring the personal lives of other first responders at Station 113, moving beyond the main family’s story to offer a wider range of perspectives.
