For years, finding something new to watch on has been easy for subscribers, but recently, things have changed when browsing on a computer. A popular feature has been removed without any announcement, and many users might find this change upsetting.
For a long time, Netflix desktop users could easily browse titles by going to “Movies” or “TV Shows” and selecting the grid view. This allowed them to sort content by different options like recommendations, release year, or alphabetical order. However, according to What’s On Netflix, that sorting feature – specifically the ability to sort by A-Z or Z-A – has recently been removed.
Netflix Undergoes More Changes Users Have Noticed
Users have recently spotted several changes to the platform. One issue is with the “New & Popular” section, where release dates are no longer consistently shown for titles listed as “Worth the Wait.” It’s unclear if these changes signal a larger redesign of the Netflix website, and Netflix hasn’t yet commented on the matter.
It’s currently unclear why these changes were made. The ability to sort titles alphabetically has been missing from the Netflix mobile and TV apps for some time, and it seems Netflix might be trying to create a consistent experience across all platforms. However, many users have already voiced their dissatisfaction with the new setup.
Subscribers Are Letting Their Thoughts Be Known
A Netflix user on Reddit complained that they can’t sort movies and shows alphabetically anymore, something they preferred and found the current browsing experience frustrating. They noticed the change when logging in and now can only browse by categories. The user asked if anyone knew of a way to still sort within Netflix, and mentioned having to use two external websites to achieve a similar alphabetical viewing experience.
Someone expressed extreme frustration, saying their account or access was also gone. They tried using both their phone and computer, but couldn’t get in and were very upset about it.
Netflix has been updating its platform in several ways. For smart TVs and consoles, they’ve redesigned the interface, removing the “New & Popular” and “Categories” sections from the side menu. On mobile, the app now features a search function and a scrolling feed of trailers and clips, similar to what you’d find on platforms like TikTok or Instagram. These mobile changes launched in a few countries recently.
