There’s mixed news today for DC fans. While the movie The Authority is no longer moving forward, James Gunn has confirmed that the TV series Paradise Lost and Booster Gold are still being developed.
He was then asked for updates on the Paradise Lost and Booster Gold TV series. Gunn said Booster Gold is currently being developed, while Paradise Lost is in a more advanced stage of development – what he called “extreme development.”
Paradise Lost Gets an Encouraging Update
The show has drawn comparisons to Game of Thrones. It was planned for HBO Max and would explore the history of the Amazons, who live on Themyscira (also known as Paradise Island). While taking place long before Wonder Woman’s birth, the series aimed to build the foundation for Wonder Woman’s story within the DC Universe.
James Gunn’s statement that Paradise Lost is moving forward quickly is encouraging news. It will likely also intensify speculation about Adria Arjona’s role in Man of Tomorrow. Some fans are already questioning reports that she’s playing Maxima. The fact that a Wonder Woman-related project is now in active development is notable, though it doesn’t confirm anything for sure.
What About Booster Gold?
Booster Gold is a new series coming to the DCU, but it will be very different in feel from Paradise Lost. It’s a comedy that centers around the main character, a superhero who can travel through time.
He’s a former football star from the 26th century who fell from grace. He stole a time machine and went back in time to become a superhero. Because he knows exactly when problems will happen, he can choose which ones to solve – and which to avoid – to make himself look good.
James Gunn revealed that a Booster Gold series was in development as part of the “Gods and Monsters” lineup. Danny McBride was initially attached, but later decided not to participate. As of July 2025, David Jenkins, the creator of Our Flag Means Death, was writing the pilot episode and would lead the series as showrunner if HBO Max approved it.
There’s exciting news regarding the future of DC TV shows. Many fans are eager to learn what’s next for Peacemaker, especially after the first season ended on a cliffhanger.
