Naruto Gives Danzo a New Official Story Reveal

I’ve noticed fans rarely hold back when discussing Danzo Shimura – his past actions have definitely stirred up strong feelings. It’s surprising, considering that, despite all the controversy surrounding him, he’s actually making a comeback with a new release in the franchise. It’ll be interesting to see how people react.

Tencent’s Naruto Mobile recently revealed a new trailer explaining the history of Danzo Shimura. A samurai-themed version of this character, known as Ronin Danzo, will become playable as an A-rank fighter on April 24, 2026. This version appears in a special storyline called ‘Tales of the Ronin,’ which reimagines popular Naruto characters in a new universe where they are reborn as samurai with altered backgrounds and appearances.

The new Danzo video is out, and it brings back Hiroshi Ito as the voice of the elder, just like in the original anime.

Naruto Reimagines Danzo Shimura as a Scheming Ronin

After being reborn in the Ronin era, Danzo quickly decided he wanted to control it completely, hoping to redirect its energy back to his original world. He began working towards this goal by, as usual, secretly manipulating events and people from behind the scenes.

The new trailer reveals him commanding several powerful reincarnated figures, like Obito, Yahiko, Nagato, and Orochimaru. It mainly asks whether his elaborate plans were actually meant to benefit the ninja world, or if they were simply for his own gain. The trailer concludes by hinting at an upcoming battle between him and Itachi Uchiha, who was brought back by the world’s creator specifically to stop Danzo’s machinations.

Danzo isn’t the first character to have his backstory revealed for the game’s Ronin storyline. The developers have also released lore videos for Pain & Konan, and Obito & Rin – all four of whom are now playable A-Rank characters in the game.

Danzo is One of the Most Hated Villains of the Naruto Series

Danzo Shimura is often seen as a truly hateful villain. He created and led Root, a secret, highly classified group within the Anbu Black Ops, and firmly believed his harsh actions were essential to protect the Hidden Leaf Village. He’s most infamous for manipulating events that turned Sasuke into a ninja seeking revenge.

Danzo was obsessed with gaining power, and often worked against those who should have been his allies, justifying his actions as being for the good of the village. He was notorious for stealing Shisui Uchiha’s eye and collecting stolen Sharingan, using a disturbing partnership with Orochimaru to do so. He also consistently tried to take the position of Hokage from both Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade.

Although Naruto Mobile is only playable in China as a 2.5D action game, it’s gained a worldwide fanbase thanks to its stunning animated promotional videos. The game regularly releases impressive animations when new characters are added, such as those for Deidara and alternate versions of existing characters.
