Prime Video has a fantasy show that’s currently more successful than HBO’s House of the Dragon in a key area, though House of the Dragon still has a chance to improve. Many fans were upset when Game of Thrones ended, and there was concern about the future of the series. The ending left a lot of viewers feeling disappointed.
Look, after the somewhat divisive finale of Game of Thrones, I think a lot of us wondered if the franchise had run its course. But HBO has proven there’s still life in Westeros! House of the Dragon was a strong start, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms looks promising. They’re clearly not done yet – we’re hearing whispers about the Jon Snow series potentially being revived, and, excitingly, an Aegon’s Conquest movie is officially in the works. It seems the realm of fire and ice still has plenty of stories to tell.
Westeros is currently a hot topic thanks to Game of Thrones, and with season 3 of House of the Dragon arriving this June, the franchise remains popular. However, it’s not the only fantasy world gaining attention. The Lord of the Rings is also expanding, with several films currently being made, including The Hunt for Gollum, directed by Andy Serkis.
Prime Video has a major fantasy hit based on a well-known series. “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” first launched on September 1, 2022, and two seasons are currently available, with a third in production. The show is planned to have five seasons in total. While it has faced some criticism, it performs better than “House of the Dragon” in at least one area.
Rings Of Power’s Battle Scenes Are Better Than House Of The Dragon’s
You’ve likely heard that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has sparked a lot of discussion. Fans have debated changes from Tolkien’s original stories, character choices, and the show’s slow speed, among other things. Despite all the controversy, one thing has remained consistent throughout both seasons.
The battle sequences in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are truly impressive and cinematic. Episodes 6 of season 1, titled Udûn, and episode 7 of season 2, Doomed to Die, are the most popular installments of their seasons, scoring 8.1 and 7.9 on IMDB respectively. These scenes stand out thanks to their flawless visual effects, intense action, imaginative settings, and overall epic scale.
While House of the Dragon features some thrilling fights, its large-scale battles don’t quite measure up to those in The Rings of Power or Game of Thrones. This is largely because the show tends to focus on individual dragon riders, and we don’t see enough action from soldiers on the ground. Big battle scenes are also relatively rare.
How House Of The Dragon Season 3 Can Make Up For That
While both shows have their strengths, I think House of the Dragon currently has more interesting characters and a better story than The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. If it can just improve the action sequences – and early reports about season 3 suggest it will – House of the Dragon could soon be as good as, or even better than, its competitor.
The third season of House of the Dragon will kick off with the Battle of the Gullet, a famous and massive naval conflict. According to showrunner Ryan Condal, this season is the show’s biggest yet, and the war will escalate rapidly. With high emotional stakes and increased action, House of the Dragon has the potential to outperform The Rings of Power.
