Alien Star Confirms Surprise DCU Casting After Man of Tomorrow Audition

Just a week after reports surfaced that she was being considered for the role of Maxima in James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Man of Tomorrow‘ film, actress Isabela Merced (formerly known as Isabela Moner) has been cast in the DC Universe. While Merced didn’t land the part of the Almeracian warrior queen – a character created by Roger Stern and George Pérez in 1990 and ultimately played by Adria Arjona – she will be joining the new DCU.

Following a report by Jeff Sneider that Chandler would be voicing the character Nosferata in Season 2 of Creature Commandos, the actor herself confirmed the news on Instagram. She posted artwork from Season 1 with the caption “… soon …,” along with bat, blood drop, and needle emojis.

Nosferata debuted in Superboy #50 in 1998, created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett. The character originated in the comics as one of the genetically engineered subjects of Project Moreau, a program from the 1940s. It’s currently unknown how much of this backstory will be used in the DC Universe.

Nosferata briefly appeared in the final episode of Creature Commandos Season 1, introduced as a new member of the team. Joining her in the newly formed Task Force M are G. I. Robot, Khalis, King Shark, Doctor Phosphorus, and Weasel, all led by The Bride.

Creature Commandos launched on Max in December 2024, and a second season was immediately greenlit. This adult animated superhero series marked the beginning of the DCU. When Season 2 is released, the DCU will be well underway, with at least two additional shows—Peacemaker Season 2 and Lanterns—and three movies—Superman, Supergirl, and Clayface—already in the works.

We don’t have a firm release date for Creature Commandos yet, but production started in June 2025, making a December 2026 launch a strong possibility – though it hasn’t been officially confirmed. As for the plot of the second season, details are still secret, but James Gunn has said it will take place after the events of Peacemaker Season 2.
