Marvel’s Spider-Man Actor Officially Teases Brand-New Game

In 2023’s game, players continued to follow the adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who both dealt with personal challenges while protecting the city as Spider-Men. The story reached a turning point when Peter decided to step back from being Spider-Man to work on his relationship with Mary Jane Watson, leaving Miles to handle things on his own and keep the city safe.

Insomniac Games, the developer of the popular Spider-Man game, hasn’t said much about a sequel, as they’ve been focused on an upcoming release later this year. But a recent hint from one of the game’s actors has excited fans, suggesting a new installment might be in the works.

Peter Parker’s Face Model Quietly Teased a New Insomniac Spider-Man Game

Ben Jordan, the actor who portrays Spider-Man’s face in the video game, shared a photo on Instagram of himself in a motion-capture suit with a cryptic message: “If you know, you know.” This quickly sparked a lot of online discussion and speculation among fans about what Insomniac Games might be planning for the future of their Spider-Man games.

Unlike the first Spider-Man game on PlayStation, Spider-Man 2 didn’t receive any extra story content or a separate spin-off game after its release. This leaves a lot of potential characters and plotlines that could be explored in the future. Now, fans are wondering if Insomniac Games will continue those stories or take the series in a completely new direction.

Last year, Yuri Lowenthal, the actor who voices Peter Parker in the Insomniac Spider-Man games, revealed that the story isn’t over even if Peter Parker stops being Spider-Man. Insomniac has plenty of other characters and storylines within the Spider-Man universe to explore.

The Marvel’s Spider-Man Games Still Have Loose Ends

Although there’s a chance Ben Jordan might show up in a different Marvel game, like a brief appearance by Peter Parker in Marvel’s Wolverine, many clues suggest Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is in development. The last game left some storylines unfinished and hinted at future villains, indicating more content is planned.

Yuri Watanabe, a popular supporting character in the Marvel’s Spider-Man games, operates as the vigilante Wraith. At the end of the last game, she was pursuing Cletus Kasady, who famously becomes the host for the villain Carnage in the comics. Many fans expect this storyline to continue in the next game, potentially featuring Carnage as a major enemy.

Players might see Martin Li, the former villain also known as Mister Negative, again in future games. He managed to escape New York at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 after assisting Peter and Miles in saving the city. Although he’s gone through a redemption arc, the ending suggests he could return in the future.

Several characters from the comics have made short appearances in the games through side quests, like The Lizard, Mysterio, and Chameleon. Chameleon, in particular, could become a more important figure in a future game. He’s Kraven the Hunter’s half-brother from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and ended his side quest by promising to finish what Kraven couldn’t.

The biggest mystery remaining in the Marvel’s Spider-Man games revolves around the Green Goblin. Norman Osborn has been a key character, but we haven’t seen him transform into the Green Goblin yet – though that might happen in a future game. In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, his son, Harry, became Venom, but ended up in a coma after being separated from the symbiote.

Driven by a desire for revenge for his son, Norman Osborn starts developing the G-Serum, which ultimately leads to the creation of the Green Goblin. Meanwhile, a scene after the credits reveals Otto Octavius happily watching Norman struggle and hinting at a larger, mysterious plan he’s developing.

This little hint strongly suggests Octavius will return. His conflict with Norman Osborn was central to the first Spider-Man game, and it looks like the sequel will feature a huge battle between the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus, with Spider-Man caught in the middle.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Symbiote Story Is Far From Over

In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the Venom Symbiote made its debut, and the story surrounding it isn’t finished yet. While Cletus Kasady was important to the previous game, we only saw him as a human. But at the end of his side missions, he showed that he’d gotten a piece of the Venom Symbiote, allowing him and his followers to continue causing trouble in the city.

With Venom already serving as the primary antagonist in the second game, it’s probable that Carnage will appear in optional side missions to keep things fresh. It’s expected that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will conclude the storyline involving the Symbiotes, and introducing Carnage will allow for a spectacular finale.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Could Feature a New Hero

The Marvel’s Spider-Man games have established a number of villains, but they’ve also suggested the possibility of new heroes emerging. The post-credits scene in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 shows that Miles Morales’ mother, Rio, is now dating Albert Moon, who has a daughter named Cindy. Cindy Moon’s story mirrors Peter Parker’s – she was bitten by a radioactive spider and developed superpowers of her own.

Cindy eventually develops her own powers and becomes a Spider-Hero, and she even becomes a romantic interest for Peter. Though future games from Insomniac may change her origin story, her brief appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 hints that the developers plan to add another hero to the team protecting New York alongside Peter and Miles.

Okay, so Cindy’s powers are a lot like Spider-Man’s, and it got me thinking – what if she could actually be the playable Spider-Man in the next game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3? Peter could still be involved, maybe as a mentor or sidekick. It wouldn’t be hard to come up with a reason for Peter to suit up again too, and honestly, having three different Spider-People you can play as would be amazing! The trick would be making Cindy feel different to play than Peter, but I think they could definitely pull that off.

Despite the recent hints, a new Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 probably isn’t coming out for a while. However, Insomniac Games might share some news with fans before the end of the year. The Marvel’s Spider-Man games have set up many potential storylines, and whatever direction Insomniac chooses, the next game looks like it will be significant.
