Warner Bros. has announced the official title for the sequel to The Minecraft Movie at CinemaCon. The studio first announced plans for the Minecraft Movie sequel last October. They also shared a list of their future films planned for release in 2027 and beyond.
Minecraft 2 official title revealed in Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon slate
The next Minecraft movie is officially titled, and Warner Bros. revealed it at the 2026 CinemaCon.
At CinemaCon, ComingSoon’s Jonathan Sim announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the next Minecraft movie will simply be titled A MINECRAFT SEQUEL. The film, which has been in development for over a year, is currently scheduled to release on July 23, 2027. Jared Hess is returning as director, and he’ll be collaborating with Chris Galletta on the screenplay.
In March, Kirsten Dunst was added to the cast of the movie, joining Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and others. Jason Momoa told Jimmy Fallon in January that filming was scheduled to begin at the end of April. He also praised the updated script, saying it was much improved and genuinely funny – he hadn’t laughed this much at a script in years. He admitted the first draft had confused him, but he found the latest version hilarious.
At CinemaCon, Warner Bros. also revealed its complete list of upcoming movies scheduled for release in 2027 and later, which is detailed below.
