As a big TV watcher, I’ve noticed something about networks: most of them just keep milking their popular shows until everyone’s tired of them. Like, AMC is still trying to get something out of The Walking Dead even though it’s been on forever and way past its best days. But HBO’s always been different – they seem to know when to end a show before it gets stale. Honestly, sometimes they cancel things too soon! I always felt Enlightened deserved another season, and even huge hits like Game of Thrones and The Last of Us felt like they could have used a few more episodes to really tell the full story.

If you’re looking for a satisfying TV binge over the weekend, HBO is a great choice. They have many shows with just a few episodes, perfect for watching in a couple of days. While shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Friends, or The Walking Dead have hundreds of episodes that could take months to finish, shows like Chernobyl, Band of Brothers, or Watchmen are shorter and can be completed in just a few hours. Some are so captivating, you’ll want to watch them all at once!

However, HBO has produced so much great comedy that some truly funny shows haven’t gotten the attention they deserve. Bored to Death is a consistently funny detective comedy that’s still underrated, The Comeback rarely gets a new season because it hasn’t received the appreciation it deserves, and Flight of the Conchords is one of HBO’s most hilarious shows, yet it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.

I absolutely love watching Clement and McKenzie together! Their comedic chemistry is amazing – they just get each other, both when they’re telling jokes and playing music. What really sells it is how believable their friendship feels, and their dry, understated reactions are hilarious. They remind me a lot of Abbi and Ilana, always finding themselves in these crazy, fun situations all over New York City. Honestly, once I finished the two seasons, I was really hoping they’d make more – it’s that good!

Rhys Darby’s Murray Hewitt Is One Of HBO’s Funniest Characters

You know, as much as I love Bret and Jemaine, I honestly think Rhys Darby as Murray Hewitt steals the show in Flight of the Conchords. He plays Murray as this wonderfully dry, deadpan foil to their craziness – the New Zealand consulate guy who also manages them. It’s brilliant! The writers clearly realized how great he was, because as the series went on, they gave him more and more to do, almost like Seinfeld did with Frank Costanza. He’s just the MVP, honestly.

Murray is a scene-stealer – whenever he’s on screen, he instantly becomes the funniest part of the show. He’s as hilarious as some of HBO’s most iconic comedic characters, like Leon Black, Selina Meyer, Valerie Cherish, and Jian Yang. And just like Murray, Flight of the Conchords deserves to be considered one of HBO’s best comedies of all time.
