4-Part Crime Series Remake Canceled Last Year Becomes Netflix Global Streaming Hit

Fox’s gritty four-season crime drama, canceled last year, has taken streaming charts by storm.

The Cleaning Lady, inspired by the Argentinian series La Chica que Limpia, first aired on Fox on January 3, 2022. The show centers on Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung), a skilled surgeon living undocumented in Las Vegas. To afford her son’s life-saving bone marrow treatment, she secretly works as a cleaner while also providing medical help to a criminal organization.

As a big fan of The Cleaning Lady, I was really hooked by season 4 – it honestly felt like one of the show’s best! Miranda Kwok wrote the very first episode and, along with Melissa Carter, Jeannine Renshaw, and Daniel Cerone, ran the show. It was such a shame to see it cancelled in June 2025, and it felt way too soon, even though that season was strong. It just didn’t seem to get the chance it deserved.

Despite ending, The Cleaning Lady is gaining popularity again thanks to streaming. Currently, it’s the #4 most-watched show on Netflix worldwide, with all four seasons available. It’s also doing well in the UK, staying in the top 10 most-watched shows all week.

The Cleaning Lady is a show that seems perfectly suited for streaming audiences. It features complex characters, exciting action, and plenty of suspense, all anchored by a strong performance from Elodie Yung, who portrays the main character with a quiet strength, emotional depth, and toughness. While it’s too early to know if the show will remain popular on Netflix, it’s already clearly resonating with viewers.

Like popular shows such as Breaking Bad, The Cleaning Lady has attracted a dedicated audience online, which could lead to lasting success. Although the show didn’t fully live up to its initial potential, it remains an enjoyable and exciting series.

Certain shows are perfect for watching all at once, and the fact that The Cleaning Lady is doing so well on Netflix suggests it might have worked better as a streaming series than on traditional television. Although a fifth season is unlikely now, fans can still enjoy this crime drama while it’s popular on Netflix.

Even though it was canceled, The Cleaning Lady is a strong contender for one of the best shows cut short. Luckily, streaming services offer a chance for shows like this to find a new audience, and its arrival on Netflix could help it gain the recognition it deserves.
