‘My Dearest Assassin’ Trailer Gives ‘John Wick’ a Coming-Of-Age Spin on Netflix

Netflix is adding another fast-paced action thriller to its lineup, and the first trailer is out now. Fans of John Wick will likely enjoy this one, as it features a hidden world of assassins, secret groups, and a determined hero. Expect plenty of gun battles, incredible martial arts, and close-quarters combat – everything action fans crave. The movie arrives on Netflix next month.

Since its release in 2014, John Wick, created by Chad Stahelski and Keanu Reeves (and inspired by Korean and Hong Kong action films), has had a huge impact on the action genre. The new Netflix thriller, My Dearest Assassin, builds on this style with a fresh angle: a coming-of-age story. The trailer reveals the plot follows a young woman with a unique blood type who is rescued by a group of assassins after being targeted by dangerous enemies.

In the thrilling series My Dearest Assassin, Lhan, played by Baifern-Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul, has always been in danger because of her unique blood type. When her parents are killed for it, she’s taken in by House 89, a hidden group of assassins who become her family. Years later, the man responsible for her parents’ death resurfaces, still seeking her. But this time, Lhan decides to fight back and protect those she cares about instead of running away.

Netflix’s upcoming action thriller, My Dearest Assassin, will deliver plenty of exciting action sequences combined with heartfelt emotion, similar to the John Wick movies. The film stars Baifern-Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul as the main character, Lhan, and introduces a memorable cast of action heroes. Tor-Thanapob Leeratanakachorn plays Pran, the agile heir to House 89 who navigates intense situations with parkour-style movement, while Porsche–Sivakorn Adulsuttikul portrays M, an orphan raised within the house, who fights with raw power, using anything around him as a weapon.

Taweewat Wantha, a director known for his horror films, brings a new action movie titled My Dearest Assassin. The trailer suggests a gritty and realistic approach to the action, featuring brutal hand-to-hand combat, intense gun fights, and diverse fighting styles for each character.

Despite its fast-paced and intense action, the film My Dearest Assassin offers a fresh and exciting take on the ‘found family’ trope, potentially reaching the same level of popularity as the Fast and Furious franchise. Director Taweewat explains that the movie explores different kinds of love – romantic, familial, and the strong bonds formed between people who aren’t related by blood. The assassins of House 89 are a family by choice, living, growing, and supporting each other, even willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for one another. My Dearest Assassin will premiere exclusively on Netflix on May 7, 2026.
