Netflix’s ‘Lego One Piece’ Series Will Hit Streaming Before Season 3

Netflix is heavily investing in the world of One Piece. The streaming service already features the incredibly popular anime series, which has been running since 1999 and now includes over 1,000 episodes. This anime is based on an even longer-running manga by Eiichiro Oda, about a young man dreaming of becoming the Pirate King. Fans were thrilled when Season 2 of Netflix’s live-action adaptation premiered in March 2026, and now we know that Season 3, titled “The Battle of Alabasta,” will be released in 2027.

Before the new season arrives, Netflix is releasing a special called Lego One Piece. This two-part special will revisit the story of the first and second seasons of the live-action series, but told from the perspective of Usopp, the crew’s storyteller.

‘One Piece’ Fans Can Get Excited About ‘Lego One Piece’

As a huge fan of both Lego and One Piece, I’m really excited about this new series! It looks like Usopp will be the storyteller, recounting his adventures to Chopper – who, let’s be honest, is probably the only one on the crew still gullible enough to fall for all of Usopp’s tall tales. Since Chopper joined the Straw Hats pretty late in the second season, it means they have a lot of freedom to cover anything that happened before that point, which is fantastic!

Many popular franchises, like Batman, Scooby-Doo, Star Wars, and Jurassic World, have been reimagined with Lego versions. One Piece would be a great fit, as these Lego adaptations usually retell familiar stories with a funnier, more playful tone. One Piece is already quite lighthearted, so a Lego version could really lean into the silliness. Plus, Lego sets based on the live-action One Piece series are already available.

Lego One Piece is a special project created through a partnership between Lego, publisher Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios (the company making the live-action series), and Atomic Cartoons. Tom Hyndman will lead the project as showrunner, and Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, will serve as an executive producer. These episodes will be released on Netflix on September 29, 2026, and are intended to keep fans engaged between seasons of the live-action show.

Netflix isn’t stopping with just one One Piece project. They’re also creating a brand-new anime series, The One Piece, in partnership with Shueisha, Toei Animation, Fuji TV, and Wit Studio. This series aims to adapt the entire manga from beginning to end, using modern technology to stay truer to the original story than the first anime adaptation did.

As of today, Netflix hasn’t announced when The One Piece will be released. However, the fact that they’re making it at all shows how much confidence and investment they have in the One Piece franchise, and how popular it is. It’s possible that, eventually, we’ll have two anime versions of the story – each with over a thousand episodes – created with different animation styles. And that doesn’t even include the possibility of more Lego specials down the line.
