Promotional artwork for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie hints that a version of Spider-Man might appear. The film will bring together the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men to fight Doctor Doom (played by Robert Downey Jr.), but it’s still unclear if Spider-Man will be part of the battle. Rumors suggest Tom Holland’s Spider-Man might not be in the movie, especially after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and a report from March 2025 stating he wouldn’t appear at all.
As a huge Marvel fan, I was so excited when Daniel Richtman, a reliable source, reported back in May 2025 that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man might be in Avengers: Doomsday! We didn’t get any official confirmation at the time, though. Then, Robert Downey Jr. totally blew things up on Instagram Easter Sunday! He posted some official artwork of Doctor Doom from the movie, and it was amazing – Doom was looking at an Easter basket filled with eggs decorated with symbols of all the MCU heroes, and you could even spot Spider-Man on there! It definitely seemed to hint at Spider-Man being involved.

This is the first official hint that Spider-Man will be part of Avengers: Doomsday, and it’s got fans wondering which version of the character will show up in the event.
It’s still uncertain if Tom Holland will be in the movie Doomsday, but a report from November 2025 by insider Daniel Richtman suggests that at least one version of Spider-Man will appear. This has led fans to speculate that it might be Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield reprising their roles.

At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker returned to his own universe. If he shows up in Doomsday, it would be only his second time appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Andrew Garfield has said he isn’t in Doomsday, but there’s speculation he might return for Avengers: Secret Wars instead.
Rumors surrounding the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie suggest we might see Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine share the screen together. The idea of these two iconic heroes appearing in the same movie is exciting for both new and longtime fans.
Although it’s not yet official if Spider-Man will appear, Avengers: Doomsday promises a huge team-up of heroes. The movie will star returning favorites like Steve Rogers, along with Sam Wilson, Yelena Belova, Shang-Chi, and the Fantastic Four, plus new additions like Cyclops, Charles Xavier, and Magneto – and many others!
Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in theaters on December 18.
How Spider-Man Fits In Avengers: Doomsday’s Multiversal Plot

Considering the huge popularity of Spider-Man: No Way Home and the fact that Avengers: Doomsday will heavily involve the Multiverse, it would be a real shame if Spider-Man didn’t appear in some form.
To truly emphasize the danger of the Multiverse collapsing from the increasing incursions, Doomsday requires a Spider-Man – whether it’s Tom Holland’s, Tobey Maguire’s, or Andrew Garfield’s version.
Bringing Maguire back as Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday would be perfect because it would allow him to act alongside established Marvel characters like Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), and Captain America (Chris Evans). Just seeing him share the screen with these actors – beyond the other Spider-Man actors like Holland and Garfield – would generate a lot of excitement for the upcoming crossover event.
Okay, so everyone’s wondering what’s going on with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, and honestly, the ending of his current arc is still a closely guarded secret. But I’m starting to think his temporary departure isn’t random. It feels like they’re setting him up for a really impactful return – and all signs are pointing towards a major role in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. They might be isolating him for a bit to really make that comeback hit harder, you know?
