According to Variety, Zootopia 2 is expected to earn $556 million worldwide by the end of its opening weekend, making it the fifth-highest-grossing global debut ever. This includes $156 million domestically over the Thanksgiving holiday and $400 million from international theaters.
Over half of the $400 million earned by the film comes from China, with ticket sales in the country reaching $272 million – that’s about 1.924 billion yuan. This quick success makes Zootopia the seventh highest-grossing Hollywood movie ever in China.
Only a handful of U.S. films have earned more in China: Transformers: Age of Extinction, Aquaman, Avengers: Infinity War, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Endgame is actually the second highest-grossing movie ever made worldwide.
