I’ve been following Zack Snyder on Instagram, and it’s been amazing to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff he’s posting from his time working on the DC movies. Recently, he shared some storyboards for the sequels to Justice League – Justice League 2 and 3 – that sadly never got made. He also posted a bunch of photos from the set of the original Justice League, with all the main actors, which was really cool to see!
Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2 and 3 plot details shared
Zack Snyder shared a series of photos on Instagram that appear to be storyboards from planned sequels to Justice League – specifically, Justice League 2 and 3. The photos include glimpses of characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Hippolyta, and the back of Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg.
He captioned the post, “2016 it’s a lot to take in.”
The storyboards for both parts open with a shocking scene: Batman is horrified to see Darkseid completely control Superman, who immediately attacks him. Batman manages to narrowly escape!
Lex thinks he’s triumphed, but then he encounters Superman. Superman stares at Lex with intense, fiery eyes and sets him ablaze. Lex’s screams fill the air as everything turns red.
The scene then jumps forward five years. We see the disturbing future—briefly hinted at in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League—where the Earth has been conquered by Darkseid. The sequence opens with the desolate image of what was once Gotham City: “Sand dunes. Smoldering solar pits… Once, this was Gotham. Now, like the rest of Earth, it belongs to Darkseid.”
The scene unfolds with a post-apocalyptic Batman, similar to the one in Batman v Superman, leading a small group of surviving Justice League members over a dune. They arrive at the ruins of Wayne Manor, with Batman in the lead and Flash struggling to help the injured Cyborg. Bruce looks up at the sky with a determined expression and says, ‘We need to get inside before nightfall. He’s coming…’
The storyboard then shows how Earth really comes together to fight Darkseid’s invasion. It kicks off with the Justice League getting overwhelmed – things look pretty bad! But it quickly hints that they won’t be facing this threat alone, which is a huge relief.
The story goes on to show Superman uniting the nations of the world, bringing their armies, air forces, and navies together. Wonder Woman and her mother then lead the Amazons from their island home, Themyscira, to join the fight!
The storyboard shows Aquaman making a desperate plea to the seven underwater kingdoms. He explains that the surface world is an eighth kingdom and urges them to unite with the Amazons and humans, not fight them.
