Zack Snyder recently celebrated reaching 400,000 followers on Instagram, an impressive milestone considering he only joined the platform last month. To mark the occasion, he shared a striking black-and-white photo of Henry Cavill as Superman from the DC Extended Universe, taken on set.

The director of 300 shared this photo, which he apparently took on his iPhone, but didn’t say which of his DC movies it’s from. It likely comes from the set of either Man of Steel or Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. What’s great is that Snyder’s posts show how much he still enjoys making superhero films. These little glimpses also offer a fun behind-the-scenes look at his big-budget movies.
Zack Snyder clearly has a strong preference for Superman, especially Henry Cavill’s portrayal of the character. He immediately affirmed Cavill as his Superman when he joined Instagram. While opinions differ – many are impressed with David Corenswet’s performance as Superman in the new DC Universe – it’s endearing to see Snyder remain such a dedicated fan of Cavill’s Superman and continue sharing photos of him in costume.
Recently, Zack Snyder has been sharing images of DC characters on his Instagram, including Superman (Kal-El). He also posted a photo of Ben Affleck as Batman that reminded many fans of his often somber portrayal, nicknamed “Sadfleck.” Snyder also shared a picture of Jared Leto’s Joker, prompting fans to express their desire to see more of that version of the character.

Zack Snyder’s recent social media posts are making fans miss the old DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which officially ended with last year’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Many fans are hoping the DCEU will be brought back in some way, but that seems unlikely. Warner Bros. and DC Studios are currently focused on a new DC Universe (DCU) starting with their ‘Gods and Monsters’ plans.
The DC Extended Universe films still exist for fans to enjoy and talk about, and that’s perfectly fine. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Zack Snyder continue sharing behind-the-scenes content from those movies, which could likely grow his Instagram following over time.
