Zachary Levi’s Critically Acclaimed Shazam Topping the Charts on Netflix

So, things are getting interesting! It looks like my performance as Shazam might actually end up being remembered, even with the DC Universe reboot happening under James Gunn. Honestly, I’ve been getting a lot of flak lately, and I’ve definitely been sticking up for Shazam! Fury of the Gods – I really believe in that movie, and it feels like people are quick to dismiss it with everything changing over at DC.

Most people agree his second and last solo movie for the DC Universe wasn’t successful, particularly when looking at box office numbers and critic reviews. It received a low 49% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though fans rated it much higher, giving it an 85% ‘Certified Fresh’ score. This difference in opinion shows how divisive Shazam! Fury of the Gods was. The original Shazam! movie, however, didn’t have these same problems.

I’m seriously impressed with how well “Evidence” is doing! It’s currently in the top 10 on Netflix, and even hit number one in Trinidad and Tobago and number two in the Bahamas – that’s amazing! Plus, it was a real success in theaters for the DCEU and critics actually loved it. It’s kind of the opposite of what happened with “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”; “Evidence” got a 90% rating from critics and an 81% audience score, based on over 10,000 reviews. That’s a fantastic response!

Is that good? Seems good.

Despite the initial success, Levi and DC Studios weren’t able to repeat that with the sequel, which is now seen as a major factor in the downfall of the DCEU. The movie suffered from a confusing plot, and even talented actors like Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren couldn’t save it. Zachary Levi himself still doesn’t understand the negative reaction to the film.

Despite some fans hoping the DC Universe might find a new life on Netflix, actor Zachary Levi doesn’t see a future for his character, Shazam!. He admitted he has no idea what’s next for the franchise, which sounds like a definitive end for the character. However, fans can still enjoy the existing Shazam! movies on Netflix through the end of 2025.
