Yellowstone’s Two Best Characters Officially Return In Two Months

Now that a release date is set for The Dutton Ranch, fans will be able to see two popular characters from Yellowstone back on screen soon.

Although the original Yellowstone concluded in December 2024, the story continues with new shows. Marshals on CBS follows Luke Grimes as his character, Kayce Dutton. Meanwhile, The Madison isn’t a direct sequel focusing on the Dutton family, but it shares a similar spirit and themes.

Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, and Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, will star in their own series called The Dutton Ranch. The first two episodes will be available to stream worldwide on Paramount+ starting Friday, March 15th. Along with the announcement of the premiere date, Paramount+ also released a longer preview of the new show in a trailer.

Fresh photos showcase the returning characters of Reilly and Hauser, and give a sneak peek at the rest of the cast from Dutton Ranch. You can view the images in the gallery below.

Yellowstone Is Leaning More Into The Crime Genre Than Ever Before In Dutton Ranch

The Dutton Ranch is named after the home shared by Beth and Rip, and represents everything they’ve almost lost their lives protecting. Despite loving their 7,000-acre property, Beth and Rip face difficult challenges and strong rivals, forcing them to do whatever it takes to stay afloat. Throughout it all, they’re also committed to raising Carter (played by Finn Little) to become the man he’s meant to be.

Beth and Rip are attempting to start a new life away from the trauma of Yellowstone, but they quickly face tough challenges and a powerful ranching family determined to maintain control at any cost. Their new home in South Texas is a place where old grudges run deep and it’s hard to find forgiveness.

The new series is leaning more into crime stories, and the strong actors joining the cast – including Ed Harris, who has been nominated for an Academy Award four times – hint at this shift. Harris will play Everett McKinney, a seasoned veterinarian with a witty personality.

Beth and Rip might face their biggest challenges yet from Annette Bening, who plays Beulah Jackson. Beulah is a strong and charismatic woman who runs a large ranch in Texas.

Where Beth & Rip’s Yellowstone Spinoff Fits In The Larger Dutton Timeline

Chad Feehan, known for his work on Taylor Sheridan’s Lawman: Bass Reeves, will lead The Dutton Ranch as showrunner and executive producer. Taylor Sheridan will also executive produce the series, which is a production of Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. Additional executive producers include Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Hauser, Reilly, and Keith Cox.

The new series will continue the story in the same time period as the original Yellowstone, and is expected to follow directly after the main show concludes. This version will feature the popular couple facing increased challenges when they encounter two Academy Award-winning actors.
