X-Men Star James Marsden Hypes ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as “Giving Everyone What They Want’

The movie isn’t scheduled to come out for over ten months, but the cast has been fielding questions about it ever since the initial announcement of who would be in the film. Recently, a returning cast member from the X-Men franchise discussed the project, but had to be careful about what they said, as Marvel Studios is known for keeping details under wraps.

While at the Apple TV event showcasing their 2026 programming, actor James Marsden – known for playing Cyclops in the original X-Men films – shared that Avengers: Doomsday is delivering exactly what fans have wanted ever since the Multiverse Saga started. He explained this in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Fans are definitely going to love this! I’m not able to share details about the project right now, but I can say you’re in for a huge surprise with a lot of exciting new elements. The Russo brothers are constantly raising the bar, and Marvel is delivering exactly what people are hoping for.

As a huge Marvel fan, I was really excited when Marvel dropped those short clips in theaters right before the new year. They weren’t just teasers for Avengers: Doomsday – the Russo brothers actually called them clues, even little stories within the bigger picture. It really hit home how massive the MCU has become with the multiverse, especially after watching What If…?. Now, it seems like Loki is the one desperately trying to hold all these different realities together, preventing total chaos. But honestly, I’m starting to wonder how long he can keep it up!

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Bring Together Many Strands of the MCU Multiverse

As a huge Marvel fan, all I’ve heard about Doomsday is rumors, but it sounds like it’s finally going to deliver on everything we’ve been hoping for with the Multiverse Saga. More than that, it seems like it’s going to tie up a lot of loose ends and give proper conclusions to storylines we thought we’d never see resolved. I’m really excited!

The trailers for Doomsday suggest a dark future for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hinting that some characters may not survive. This is particularly true for older, established heroes like the original X-Men and other returning faces. Doomsday and Secret Wars feel like a chance for Marvel Studios to refresh the universe, something many fans expected after Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel Studios is already looking ahead to its future plans, but there’s a lot riding on the success of the next phase of Marvel movies. Surprisingly, despite the high stakes, there doesn’t seem to be much concern about how well these films will do.
