The X-Men are known for having incredibly strong heroes, which also means they consistently face truly challenging and powerful villains – and Season 2 of X-Men ’97 will be no different.
The first season concluded with the X-Men spread throughout history. However, the biggest surprise was discovering some of them had landed in the past alongside a young Apocalypse, strongly suggesting he’ll be the main villain in Season 2 and a formidable opponent.
Season 2 will feature a variety of X-Men villains, each with different levels of power. Some will be relatively weak, while others will be incredibly powerful, ranking among the strongest threats the X-Men have faced.
X-Men ‘97 Season 2‘s Villains Based on How Powerful They Are
Sabretooth

While Sabretooth wasn’t in the first season of X-Men ’97, he’s expected to appear in Season 2. Many fans already know Sabretooth from the X-Men movies and Deadpool & Wolverine, and are familiar with his abilities. However, he isn’t as strong or dangerous as some other X-Men villains like Apocalypse.
Similar to Wolverine, Sabretooth can heal and recover from injuries at an incredible rate. He’s also very strong, though not as powerful as some other super-powered characters. He has animalistic traits like fangs and claws, along with heightened senses. While he’s a fun villain to watch, he generally isn’t a major threat to the X-Men.
Lady Deathstrike

I’m really excited about the addition of Lady Deathstrike to X-Men ’97 in Season 2 – she’s going to be a formidable opponent. Everyone knows Wolverine and his Adamantium skeleton, and especially those claws. But Lady Deathstrike? She’s packing Adamantium claws of her own, which means she’s absolutely not someone you want to cross. Get ready for a serious fight!
Overall, she isn’t as strong as many other characters in the series, but she’s a more significant threat than Sabretooth. Viewers can anticipate that both Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth will play roles in Logan’s storyline during Season 2.
Omega Red

Omega Red is a truly frightening villain, significantly more powerful than Lady Deathstrike. Originally a serial killer named Arkady Rossovich, he was captured by the Soviet Union and subjected to experiments aimed at creating a super-soldier similar to Captain America. Unfortunately, the experiments resulted in him becoming far too unstable and dangerous to control.
Omega Red is incredibly strong, resilient, and fast. He has deadly powers, including spores that can kill instantly and the ability to drain someone’s life force. Because of his power and intelligence, Omega Red’s appearance in X-Men ’97 Season 2 promises to be truly frightening.
Danger

Danger is the artificial intelligence that powers the X-Men’s Danger Room, and she’ll be appearing in Season 2 of X-Men ’97. Think of her as an AI program that became self-aware and gained a physical form.
Danger is incredibly formidable because she has studied and understands all of the X-Men’s fighting styles and vulnerabilities. This gives her a significant edge in battle, and she’s considered so dangerous – a fitting name! – that in the comics, Steve Rogers deemed her a threat capable of causing an extinction-level event.
Magneto

Most X-Men fans know Magneto well. While his tactics are often debatable, his core desire is to build a world where mutants can live openly and without shame. He’s one of the most powerful mutants around, and that’s expected to continue in Season 2 of X-Men ’97.
Magneto can control magnetic fields, letting him move metal and generate protective shields. He’s considered an Omega-level Mutant, putting him among the most powerful mutants ever known.
Apocalypse

As a huge X-Men fan, I’m so excited about Season 2 of X-Men ’97! It looks like Apocalypse is going to be the big bad, and he’s not just powerful – he’s the original mutant! They really hinted at this at the end of Season 1 when Xavier, Magneto, and the team got sent way back in time to Ancient Egypt, and it’s clear he’s been waiting there. I think he’s going to be an incredible threat.
Apocalypse is an incredibly powerful being, possessing virtually any superhuman ability you can imagine. What makes him truly unique is his immortality and his ability to completely reshape his body at will, controlling every atom. On top of that, he also has telekinesis, teleportation, and access to advanced Celestial technology, making him one of the most formidable villains around.
Marvel Studios and Disney+’s X-Men ’97 Season 1 was a huge hit, becoming one of the most critically acclaimed animated series in recent years. Due to its popularity, a second season was quickly greenlit, and it’s scheduled to arrive in Summer 2026.
