The movie earned $104 million worldwide and received a remarkable 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, leading some to call it one of the greatest heist films ever made.

A new, intense security guard (Statham) working on an armored truck shocks his colleagues when he reveals incredible skills during a robbery. The crew is left baffled, trying to figure out his background. It quickly becomes clear he has a personal reason for his actions, and he’s determined to get revenge.

Critics Were Surprised with ‘Wrath of Man’

Jason Statham has entertained audiences for years with his signature style of action films, occasionally mixing things up with different roles. However, most of his movies haven’t received high praise from critics. Surprisingly, Wrath of Man scored a respectable 68%, with many viewers enjoying it despite some common criticisms.

Reviewers had mixed feelings about the film. Andrew Murray from The Upcoming found it occasionally fun but ultimately lacking substance and overly long. Mark Kermode in the U.K. agreed, stating the film lacked engagement or surprises. Kevin Maher of The Times described it as a slow and predictable journey to a disappointing and expected ending.

However, Empire Magazine called the film a “pleasant surprise” and an “overall enjoyable, gritty thriller.” Dave Giannini from InSession Film noted that Wrath of Man isn’t a standard Guy Ritchie/Jason Statham movie, but it’s definitely worth seeing if you’re looking for a cool, well-executed revenge story.
