Wonder Woman’s Patty Jenkins on if She’ll Direct DCU’s Reboot Movie

Patty Jenkins, who directed the first two Wonder Woman movies starring Gal Gadot, has shared her thoughts on directing a potential reboot within James Gunn’s new DC Universe. Although a third Wonder Woman film was previously in development, those plans were canceled in December 2022 after a change in studio leadership.

Patty Jenkins, the director behind the two Wonder Woman movies starring Gal Gadot, has recently shared whether she plans to direct the upcoming reboot within the new DC Universe.

During a recent conversation with M.C.U.N., Jenkins was asked about potentially directing a new Wonder Woman film for the DC Universe. She responded by saying she wouldn’t rule it out, as she has a strong affection for the character. However, she’s currently focused on and enthusiastic about her current projects, and enjoys taking on new challenges.

She added, “I loved making superhero movies…you never know, but I am having a good time.”

James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, hasn’t revealed many details about the new Wonder Woman project, officially called ‘Paradise Lost,’ but confirmed it’s currently in development. Speaking at a DC event in February 2025, Gunn said the project was progressing well. Peter Safran, the other co-CEO of DC Studios, added that the script is currently being written (via Comicbook.com).

In July 2025, James Gunn was asked if he would consider a TV actress for the role of Wonder Woman, mirroring his choice of Milly Alcock for Supergirl. He replied that he absolutely wouldn’t base casting decisions on an actor’s previous work in television or film. He emphasized that finding the best performer for the role is his sole focus, explaining that he chose Milly Alcock not because of her past roles, but because she was the most suitable for the part.
