Be warned, this article reveals details from the first season of Wonder Man. Now that all eight episodes of the Marvel series Wonder Man are streaming on Disney+, fans are eager to know if it will be renewed for a second season. The show stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor facing challenges, and features Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery. With all episodes released at once, viewers can watch the entire four-hour season immediately. While it was a highly anticipated superhero show for 2026, the big question is: was it good enough to earn another season?
From the start, Wonder Man sets itself apart from other Marvel shows. Instead of following a hero learning the ropes, the first season focuses on Simon Williams trying to land a big acting job – specifically, the role of his idol, Wonder Man. While Trevor seems to be helping Simon, it’s revealed he’s secretly working with the Department of Damage Control to monitor Simon and stay out of prison. The situation gets even more complicated when Simon demonstrates some powerful and potentially dangerous abilities, which is exactly why Trevor was sent to watch him in the first place.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’ve been a little disappointed with some of their recent shows, but Wonder Man is a total game-changer! Seriously, it’s fantastic. The numbers don’t lie – it’s smashed records on Rotten Tomatoes with a 90% score from both critics and audiences. What really makes it special is the incredible chemistry between the lead actors – honestly, their friendship is the best thing Marvel’s done since Loki and Mobius! Plus, the story focuses on character development and emotional journeys, which is a refreshing change from just endless action. After shows like Echo and Secret Invasion didn’t quite hit the mark, Wonder Man has me completely hooked and desperate for a season two. Here’s the latest on whether that’s going to happen!
Is ‘Wonder Man’ Getting a Season 2?

Disney+
Currently, Marvel hasn’t announced a second season of Wonder Man. However, there are strong reasons to believe it could happen. The show’s positive reception on Rotten Tomatoes demonstrates that audiences are still eager for Marvel content. The positive reactions also show that Marvel made a smart choice by keeping the show grounded within the cinematic universe without overwhelming viewers with typical superhero tropes. Wonder Man stands out because it focuses on character development and an engaging storyline—Simon’s personal journey and Trevor’s mysterious plans—rather than relying on constant action or endless references to other Marvel projects. This makes for compelling television on its own merits.
The first season ends with a huge cliffhanger, practically guaranteeing a second season. Simon finally achieves all his goals – landing the Wonder Man role, earning his brother’s approval, and gaining wealth and fame – but realizes he misses his friend, Trevor, the most. He dramatically breaks Trevor out of prison using his powers, escaping like Iron Man. Although there aren’t any after-credits scenes hinting at a continuation, both characters could easily reappear in the MCU soon. We’ve seen Simon living a normal life as an actor, but now that he’s revealed his powers and committed a crime by freeing Trevor, a second season feels essential to explore how they navigate life as fugitives.
More Importantly, Should ‘Wonder Man’ Get a Season 2?

Disney+
Now that Wonder Man has pulled off something special, the show has earned whatever comes next – whether that’s another season, a spin-off movie, or simply bringing these characters back in other Marvel projects. Fans who watched Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi already know Trevor Slattery, and it would be easy to explain who Simon Williams is – a well-known actor who now has superpowers – to anyone new to the story. Plus, Ben Kingsley’s portrayal of Slattery is a real highlight of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His role in Wonder Man is his third time playing the character, and he continues to deliver an amazing performance, even for those who weren’t fans of the Mandarin twist in Iron Man 3. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also makes a strong debut, and his portrayal of a man who’s always felt like an outsider is powerfully relatable, and will connect with a wide range of people, including those who feel different themselves.
The first season ends with many unanswered questions that a second season could explore. We don’t know how Simon’s father died, if that event gave Simon his powers, or even the full extent of those powers. Will Simon continue to develop his abilities, and could he eventually join the Avengers, as he does in the comics? Beyond Simon, the season leaves us wondering if Trevor will maintain his sobriety, how he and Simon will avoid the DODC, and if we’ll see characters like Doorman again – not to mention what role Josh Gad might play! A second season would allow these storylines to develop, strengthening our connection to the characters and giving Simon the chance to grow into a powerful mutant or Avenger, potentially setting up events for Avengers: Doomsday.
It’s funny that characters within the show itself joke about a sequel! After the Wonder Man premiere, the director states he’s against making sequels, and another character immediately agrees, calling them a losing proposition. While that might be true sometimes, Marvel would be smart to reconsider – this project seems like a winner. The team has already demonstrated they can create compelling stories without relying on established heroes like Captain America, so giving these characters another chance in the MCU would be a good move.
How Wonder Man Could Appear in the Future MCU

Disney+
With the new Wonder Man series likely set in the present Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans can probably expect to see Simon and Trevor return to the screen soon. A natural place for them to reappear would be in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as it’s being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton – one of the creators of Wonder Man. Cretton also directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and is working on its sequel, Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time, making him a key director within Marvel and someone very familiar with the character Trevor Slattery. Since Simon and Trevor are now fugitives, it would be logical for them to leave Los Angeles and go into hiding, perhaps in a crowded place like Manhattan. This would create opportunities for them to cross paths with characters like Peter Parker, Frank Castle, Bruce Banner, and anyone else appearing in the new Spider-Man film.

With so many Marvel stars expected to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, the characters from Wonder Man could potentially be included. Ben Kingsley and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II didn’t reveal what they’d like to see in a second season, but they did compliment the show’s creative team and hinted at possible future developments. In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, Wonder Man co-creator and showrunner Andrew Guest shared encouraging news about a potential Season 2, stating that the return of Simon and Trevor depends on fan demand. He explained, “If enough people want to see more of Simon and Trevor, I think we’ll definitely get it.”
With Wonder Man becoming an instant hit on Disney+ – quickly reaching the #1 spot – and offering a fresh story, intriguing mysteries, and strong acting, Marvel is likely thrilled with this rare success. They’ll probably create more content featuring Simon and Trevor as soon as they can.
