New episodes of Ghosts season 5 aren’t on tonight. The popular comedy, which follows Sam and Jay at Woostone Mansion, will continue in the 2025-2026 season. After five seasons, the ghosts who live in the house—now a bed and breakfast—are comfortable with their situation. But there are still plenty of stories to tell, especially as Sam and Jay navigate life with their mischievous supernatural housemates.

So far this season of Ghosts has been packed with unexpected events! We’ve seen everything from a spirit being vanquished in a rather unusual way to Sam experiencing a story inspired by It’s A Wonderful Life. Plus, Trevor started a relationship with Patience, we were introduced to the Others, and Hetty put her abilities to good use helping out at Mahesh. If you’re eager to see what happens next, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for the next episode of season 5.

Ghosts Season 5 Is Taking A Break Due To CBS’s Schedule

CBS isn’t airing any new episodes of Ghosts season 5 this Thursday because of a change to their usual schedule. Instead of their regular TV shows, the network is broadcasting March Madness, a popular annual sporting event. It makes sense for CBS to prioritize March Madness because of its high viewership. Earlier this year, NBC did something similar, replacing their regular shows with coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.

TV networks typically pause their regular scripted shows around now for short breaks. This timing often coincides with “sweeps” periods – late April to May, as well as November, February, and July – when viewership data is gathered. This data helps networks and advertisers set advertising rates for the remainder of the year. Because CBS has popular, highly-rated shows, they naturally want to maximize their earnings during these periods. Sometimes, the breaks are just to ensure they have enough episodes to last until the next season begins.

When Ghosts Season 5, Episode 14 Releases (& What To Expect)

Because CBS’s schedule change is temporary, its regular scripted shows will definitely be back on Thursdays. The new season of Ghosts will premiere with episode 14 on April 2, 2026, at 8:30 PM Eastern Time. Currently, there aren’t any plans for additional breaks mid-season, though CBS could always decide to add them later.

CBS usually shares a preview for each new episode to get fans excited, but since the show is on a two-week break, we haven’t seen any clips of the next one yet. Good news, though – the network has already revealed what the episode is about! The first episode of Ghosts season 5, titled “Water Heater,” will focus on the chaos that happens when the water heater breaks at Woodstone Mansion. We’ll also see things get complicated between Kyle and Bela, with Hetty caught in the middle.
