Disney has been making a lot of live-action remakes of its classic animated films lately, and many have been big hits. Recently, there’s been talk about a live-action version of Tangled, and fans have suggested McKenna Grace, known for her role in Regretting You, would be perfect as Rapunzel. We recently spoke with Grace, along with her co-star Mason Thames, about the possibility of them starring in the film.
I Asked McKenna Grace And Mason Thames About Co-Starring In A Live-Action Tangled
The new movie Regretting You, based on the popular romance novel by Colleen Hoover, arrives in theaters this weekend, starring McKenna Grace and Mason Thames. When asked by TopMob about potentially starring in a Tangled adaptation next, here’s what the actors had to say (see the interview clip above for more).
- McKenna Grace: “I keep on telling him that he could make a really good Flynn Rider.”
- Mason Thames: “She is Rapunzel.”
- Grace: “Yeah, but you have the suave. Flynn Rider was like my crush growing up.”
- Thames: “So, you’re saying I’m your crush?”
- Grace: “Yes.”
- Thames: “I’m only in if she’s in.”
- Grace: “You’re so silly.”
Okay, so I was chatting with Grace and Thames, and I had to ask about the fan castings for Disney’s live-action Rapunzel – everyone seems to want Grace as Rapunzel and Thames as Flynn Rider! They were both SO enthusiastic about each other being perfect for those roles, just gushing! Honestly, after talking to them, I totally get why people are shipping it – they’d absolutely kill it!
You know, watching those two in Regretting You was just adorable – they clearly had a blast playing high school sweethearts! It actually got me thinking, if Tangled ever comes out, it’ll be their third project together. They already teamed up for a Green Day movie called New Year’s Rev, and of course, Regretting You was their second collaboration. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for anything else they do together!
What’s Going On With The Live-Action Tangled Movie?
We recently spoke with Grace and Thames regarding a potential live-action Tangled movie. This news follows reports from a couple of weeks ago that the film is once again in development, with Scarlett Johansson being considered to play Mother Gothel. While Johansson hasn’t confirmed these reports, she did express enthusiasm about the project, especially the possibility of collaborating with director Michael Gracey, known for his work on The Greatest Showman.
After reports surfaced that a Tangled movie was cancelled following the poor performance of Snow White, the recent news about a potential Tangled revival is exciting. We think Grace and Thames would be perfect in the lead roles!
