Without further ado, here’s a brief on who Rachel Cole-Alves is in the Marvel comics.

Who is Spider-Man 4’s Rachel Cole-Alves?

A video from the set of Spider-Man 4 recently appeared online, leading fans to believe Sadie Sink might be cast as Rachel Cole-Alves, a character connected to the Punisher.

Rachel was first introduced in The Punisher Vol. 9, #1 in August 2011 as a Marine Sergeant. After serving in Afghanistan, she married trauma surgeon Daniel Alves in New York City. Tragically, their wedding reception was attacked by criminals from a group called the Exchange, and everyone was killed except Rachel.

As Rachel healed, I watched her reclaim her original last name and start plotting her revenge against the Exchange. It was through a friendship with Norah Winters, a reporter at The Daily Bugle, that she began uncovering details about the criminal organization they were up against.

Once Rachel discovered where the Exchange leaders were hiding, she broke in and eliminated them. This brought her into direct conflict with Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, who was independently targeting the same organization. They had a short fight, but ultimately decided to pursue their goals separately.

The Punisher and Rachel Cole-Alves meet again, this time to get hold of the Omega Drive – a device containing vital information on many criminal groups. They briefly work with Daredevil and Spider-Man, but Rachel ultimately takes the drive from them, counting on the fact that the two heroes won’t use lethal force.

Rachel later assists the Punisher in stealing adamantium during an auction, allowing them to get inside the Exchange’s headquarters. In the resulting fight, she kills the Exchange’s leader, Stephanie Gerard, and unintentionally shoots a detective during the confusion.

Consumed by guilt, Rachel admitted her wrongdoing to Norah and tried to provoke the police into shooting her, but the Punisher intervened and saved her life. She was arrested and given a death sentence, but the Punisher broke her out of prison, allowing her to start over in a new city.
