I’m really excited about Chris Pratt’s return to science fiction! His new movie is already shaping up to be a major contender for one of the best sci-fi films of 2026, and it’s coming out sooner than you think. Of course, Pratt’s no stranger to the genre – he’s already become a huge star leading two of the biggest sci-fi franchises ever made.
Chris Pratt has become a real go-to guy for sci-fi – I mean, he’s fantastic as Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy films and really held his own in the Jurassic World series. He’s proven he can handle the genre with The Tomorrow War too. And it looks like he’s continuing that trend with what’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting sci-fi releases of 2026. While Marvel fans are still waiting to see if he’ll be back as Star-Lord anytime soon, his future in the genre definitely looks bright!
Chris Pratt’s New Sci-Fi Thriller Arrives This Month
Although Chris Pratt didn’t appear in the most recent Jurassic World film, he’ll soon be back in the science fiction genre. His next movie, Mercy, comes out in theaters on January 23, 2026. The film also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Annabelle Wallis, and Kylie Rogers.
Mercy presents a compelling premise: Detective Chris Raven is accused of his wife’s murder and must clear his name. The catch? It’s 2029, and he has just 90 minutes to convince an A.I. judge – a program he himself helped develop – that he’s innocent.
Why Mercy Is A Sc-Fi Movie Worth Watching?
The new sci-fi thriller is a fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled ride where Chris Pratt’s character is judged by an artificial intelligence. He’s strapped to a chair while the AI meticulously examines his entire life. To avoid execution, Pratt needs to convince the AI he’s only 91% guilty – falling below a 92% threshold by the end of the trial.
This Sci-Fi movie is definitely worth seeing. Its captivating story works on two levels: it’s a thrilling mystery that keeps you guessing whether the main character will survive, and a deep exploration of his life, as an A.I. judge meticulously examines every detail.
Okay, let me tell you, this movie really hinges on its leads, and thankfully, it delivers! Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson are fantastic together. Ferguson, who you might recognize from the incredible Dune films, brings a lot to the table. The plot centers around Pratt’s character trying to figure out who murdered his wife, and honestly, if you’re a Sci-Fi fan, Mercy is absolutely worth checking out.
