Wednesday Season 3 Reportedly Gets Major Filming Update Ahead Of Likely 2027 Release Date

Fans of the popular Netflix series Wednesday have reason to be excited, as production for season 3 is officially moving forward.

Following the successful launch of the Addams Familyinspired show in 2022, fans waited nearly three years for its second season. After Wednesday season 2 arrived on Netflix in 2025, people began wondering how long they’d have to wait for season 3. Since Netflix didn’t mention the series in its 2026 preview, it’s probable that Wednesday* won’t return until 2027.

Filming for season 3 of Wednesday has reportedly started, according to the website What’s On Netflix. This is supported by hints shared on Instagram by people working on the show. The timeline matches what actor Hunter Doohan (who plays Tyler Galpin) said in January – that filming would begin soon and take seven to eight months.

Stunt performer Jenny Ayumi recently shared a funny behind-the-scenes moment on Instagram. According to the X account @wensadms, Ayumi posted a Story showing some prop feet, joking that it’s just part of the strange things she finds while working.

I was so excited to see a photo makeup artist Nirvana Jalalalvand shared from Ireland! It looked like it was taken on set, and she tagged @wensadms, saying it was from day four of filming. We already knew season 3 of Wednesday would be filmed in Dublin, Ireland, but seeing that little peek behind the scenes was amazing!

People believe these photos are from the set of Wednesday season 3, but Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed this yet.

I’m so excited! It sounds like they’re really getting things moving on the new season. I saw that they’re holding auditions for high school students and other roles, which means filming could be starting any minute now! It’s all happening!

In addition to Jenna Ortega and Dominic Doohan, the cast of Wednesday includes Gwendoline Christie, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Steve Buscemi, Isaac Ordonez, Owen Painter, Billie Piper, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton, Fred Armisen, Luis Guzmán, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Eva Green, known for her role in Casino Royale, will be joining season three of Wednesday as Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister. Ophelia has psychic abilities and was briefly seen in the season two finale through one of Wednesday’s visions. The vision showed Ophelia writing the chilling message, “Wednesday Must Die,” in blood while imprisoned.

Okay, so the second season of Wednesday was released in two batches – the first four episodes came out in August 2025, and then the last four followed a month later. Honestly, a lot of fans weren’t thrilled with that split release. It’s anyone’s guess if Netflix will do the same thing for season three, or if they’ll listen to the feedback and release all the episodes at once this time around.

Even though some people criticized the show, its quality actually improved. Season 2 of Wednesday received a higher rating on Rotten Tomatoes (87%) than the first season (73%).

Filming for season 3 of Wednesday has reportedly begun, but it will probably be several months before Netflix reveals when it will be released. Current estimates suggest a release sometime in 2027.
