Marvel Studios recently released a new trailer for their upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man, and it cleverly brings back Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, the actor who famously impersonated a villain in Iron Man 3. Kingsley first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2013, playing Slattery, a performer hired to pose as the terrorist The Mandarin. After a surprising reveal connected him to the real Mandarin, Wenwu (played by Tony Leung) in Shang-Chi, Slattery was able to escape with help from the superhero, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi.
Ben Kingsley is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Disney+ series Wonder Man. He’ll star alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in this comedic look at Hollywood, playing off his established talent for portraying actors. Wonder Man is intended to finish a story arc that began with his character, Trevor Slattery, in Iron Man 3 and continued in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The series will wrap up this trilogy next year.
Marvel Studios recently posted a new promo for their upcoming show Wonder Man on X. The promo is designed to look like an advertisement from within the show’s universe, featuring Ben Kingsley’s character, Trevor Slattery, promoting his acting technique, “The Slattery Method,” as a sort of acting master class.

Slattery famously says that acting isn’t just work—it’s something you’re meant to do. He shares one of his funny methods for getting into character, which involves controlling your breathing and counting to 4000. The footage also shows Slattery acting in one of his recent projects, giving fans a glimpse of this technique in action.

You can watch the complete promo for the “Slattery Method” below, but that’s just the start of Marvel Studios’ clever marketing for their upcoming series, Wonder Man.
It looks like the studio is using a clever marketing strategy for Wonder Man that leans heavily into the film’s themes. Posters have been appearing around Los Angeles advertising Destin Daniel Cretton (playing Slattery) as an “Acting Coach to the Stars,” which fits the movie’s setting in Hollywood.
Similar to a previous promotion, these ads invite people to text “ACT” to 805-8-TREVOR (805-887-3867) to receive acting advice. Responding will trigger an automated message allowing fans to subscribe to updates about Marvel’s Wonder Man in the two months before it’s released.

Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, has revealed that both Trevor Slattery and Simon Williams will be central characters in the upcoming series Wonder Man. The two will share a connection through their shared passion for acting, even though they are very different personalities.
The entire first season of Wonder Man, consisting of eight episodes, will be released on January 27, 2026. The show stars Ben Kingsley and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, along with Ed Harris, Zlatko Burić, Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, Arian Moayed, and other talented actors.
Trevor Slattery Has His Biggest Role Yet in Wonder Man

Trevor Slattery’s now an acting coach, which could explain how he connects with Yahya Abdul-Matteen II’s character, Simon Williams, in the upcoming Wonder Man series. Simon, hoping to become a star, will likely seek guidance from Slattery—though not for the best reasons—before Slattery reveals a big audition opportunity for the role of Wonder Man.
As anticipated, the trailer showed Williams and Slattery competing for a role in the new Wonder Man movie, directed by the character Von Kovak. However, a Disney+ promotion suggests Slattery’s history with the Ten Rings – and his controversial portrayal of The Mandarin – continues to be an issue.
Brad Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming Wonder Man series will wrap up a three-part story arc for Justin Hammer (Slattery). He also assured fans that the show will portray the Iron Man 3 villain’s story with sincerity, avoiding a cynical approach.
This is designed for a Marvel Cinematic Universe fan who’s familiar with Trevor Slattery’s story, from his first appearance in Iron Man 3 through Shang-Chi and beyond. His character arc is surprisingly well-structured in three parts, and I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s genuinely heartfelt and sincere – it’s not at all cynical.
Marvel might use the character of Slattery to explore the topic of cancel culture, as his past actions create obstacles to him becoming a hero. However, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is the frontrunner for the role of Wonder Man, and he already brings a lot to the table – essentially possessing three abilities that feel like real superpowers, making him a natural fit for the part.
Despite competing for the same job, Williams and Slattery appear destined to become close friends and enjoy themselves throughout the process. Plus, Wonder Man has a bigger problem to worry about right now.
