The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always growing, with new movies and shows available in theaters and on Disney+. While many Marvel fans have enjoyed years of films, the Guardians of the Galaxy series is particularly popular. After the ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, some viewers were disappointed that Star-Lord and Gamora didn’t reunite, and now Chris Pratt has shared his perspective on the matter.
Volume 3 continued the story of the team of cosmic heroes, featuring Zoë Saldaña as Gamora, who was brought back to life in Endgame through time travel orchestrated by Thanos. However, this new version of Gamora didn’t remember her past experiences with the Guardians, including her relationship with Peter Quill. Chris Pratt recently discussed their situation on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, sharing his perspective on why they didn’t rekindle their romance.
You know, I wouldn’t say I’m sad about things. It’s more… fascinating, actually. Especially the challenges we face. I think when a relationship naturally comes to an end, there’s a certain flow to it. It’s all just really interesting to watch and experience, honestly. Both the good and the bad.
Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, has shared his thoughts on the Gamora and Peter Quill storyline. He believes the way things ended between them – rather than a simple happy ending – opens up more exciting possibilities for future stories. However, it seems most fans weren’t pleased with that outcome.

Okay, let’s talk Disney+. If you’re a Marvel fan, especially of the Guardians of the Galaxy, this is pretty much essential viewing. They’ve got a new, more affordable plan starting at just $11.99 a month, though it does include ads. If you want to skip those ads, it’ll cost you $18.99 monthly, or you can save a bit by paying for the year upfront – around $189.99 gets you 12 months of ad-free Marvel goodness. Honestly, as a viewer, I think the yearly option is a good deal if you know you’ll be watching consistently.
As a huge MCU fan, I always loved Gamora and Peter Quill – they were easily one of my favorite couples. That’s why her death in Infinity War hit so hard, and why Peter just losing it and punching Thanos at that crucial moment felt so… real. Chris Pratt actually talked about their relationship recently, and shared some thoughts on how things ultimately ended for them, saying:
I didn’t think that storyline would have worked well for Quill and Gamora. I actually found the way they did handle it more compelling. Bringing Gamora back as a different person was more emotionally impactful, and it also opens up possibilities for future stories.
The Gamora seen in both Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 felt different from the one fans remembered. Because she hadn’t developed feelings for Peter Quill yet, their reconnection didn’t quite ring true. She seemed content with her life as a Ravager, though she did share a touching scene with Star-Lord in Vol. 3.
The movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with a message saying Star-Lord will return in future Marvel films, but it’s unclear when that will happen. Chris Pratt believes that because Star-Lord and Gamora didn’t reunite, there’s now room for more interesting stories about his character, explaining that:
We have more chances to explore Peter Quill’s story, because he’s still dealing with a lot of past trauma that hasn’t been resolved. This allows us to see him at a point where he’s trying to figure out who he is, now that he doesn’t have the responsibilities of a family or a partner holding him back.
That’s a really good point. If Peter hadn’t lost Gamora, he might never have come back to Earth to see his grandfather. Hopefully, we’ll understand what’s next for him in the Marvel universe soon.
