The new sci-fi action film from [Director/Studio Name] is already being planned for a follow-up. Released on the popular streaming service just last week, the movie stars Jack Reacher actor [Actor Name] as an action hero facing an unprecedented threat after discovering a strange, metallic machine – something like a cross between the Predator and a Transformer.
Patrick Hughes, who directed and helped write films like The Expendables 3 and The Hitman’s Bodyguard, recently released a new sci-fi action thriller. It quickly became popular on Netflix when it premiered on March 6th, earning positive feedback from both reviewers and viewers. Many have applauded the film’s straightforward, exciting action and high energy.
The new action film War Machine is a huge hit on Netflix, both in the US and around the globe. Given its success, and the continued popularity of star Alan Ritchson (known for Reacher), fans are already wondering if a sequel is in the works. It appears the answer is yes! Ritchson and director Patrick Hughes recently told ScreenRant they’ve already started planning more adventures for Ritchson’s character, Staff Sergeant 81, continuing the story from War Machine. Ritchson even compared the potential sequel to the classic sci-fi action film Aliens.
It’s going to be huge! War Machines is shaping up to be amazing, and we’ve got a lot planned.
Cameron cleverly followed Ridley Scott’s Alien by simply adding an “s” to the title, clearly aiming to replicate the franchise’s huge success. Director Hughes has also shared that he has a clear vision for a sequel and has already developed a basic outline.
As a writer, it’s hard not to consider returning to the story. I really connected with the character of 81 and the whole world he inhabits. So, if I were asked to continue, I’d definitely be on board.
Inspired by the mysterious, stoic heroes of classic Westerns like Pale Rider, Ritchson’s character, known only as 81, barely speaks in War Machine. The original plan was for 81 to remain completely silent – a role Ritchson is already familiar with in his upcoming film, Motor City – but he does utter a few lines. Despite this, his past and motivations remain largely unknown. Ritchson and the director do have a backstory in mind, and they likely would have revealed it in a potential sequel, War Machines, but Ritchson isn’t sharing any details just yet.
“We know. We’re not going to say, you got to stick around for the eight sequels.”
The first War Machine movie has a straightforward plot: a team of Army Rangers on a final, difficult mission must battle and survive against a massive alien weapon. However, a sequel could build on this story significantly. The film subtly suggests a much larger world and a greater danger, with Anthony Mackie’s character, 81, potentially being humanity’s only hope. Netflix would be smart to pursue this opportunity.
