Alan Ritchson’s popular sci-fi action movie, War Machine, which was number one on the Global Top 10 list for two weeks, has now been overtaken by a previously successful title.
Debuting on March 6th, War Machine features Joel Ritchson as Staff Sergeant 81, a new Army Ranger recruit. He’s tasked with leading his team through their final training, which takes a terrifying turn when they encounter an incredibly powerful alien enemy. Forced to fight without weapons, they must find another way to defeat it.
The movie War Machine quickly became a hit on Netflix, racking up 39.3 million views in its first two days. This put it at the top of the Global Top 10 list for the week of March 2nd to 8th, and it stayed strong the following week with another 44.4 million views. Viewership declined considerably in its third week to 18 million, allowing a new title to take the number one spot.
The new movie Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, which premiered on Netflix on March 20th, quickly became the most popular title for the week of March 16th-22nd. In just its first two days, the film brought Thomas Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, back to screens and earned an impressive 25.3 million views, pushing War Machine into second place. This success isn’t surprising – fans have been eager for more from the Peaky Blinders universe since the main series ended in 2022, and creator Steven Knight didn’t disappoint.
Audiences Are Loving ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’
Featuring Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Stephen Graham, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man takes place during World War II. The story follows Thomas Shelby as he returns from hiding when his son gets caught up in a risky plot involving the Nazis.
Building on everything fans loved about the original British series, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man has been a huge success. It currently has a 91% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences also overwhelmingly approve with a score of 89%. It’s quickly become a fan favorite, as one viewer put it:
It was an amazing experience! The beautiful visuals, the captivating music, and even the classic pea coats all added to the atmosphere. It was fantastic to revisit Birmingham and follow Thomas Shelby on another gritty story. Cillian Murphy’s performance was exactly what I hoped for.
‘Peaky Blinders’ Will Continue With a New Series

A new Peaky Blinders series is confirmed, set to launch in October 2025. This show will continue the story of the Shelby family, picking up after the events of both the original series and the film. While the film concluded Tommy Shelby’s story, the focus will now shift to his son, Duke. According to creator Steven Knight, the new series will explore the next generation of the family and keep the Peaky Blinders saga going.
We don’t have a start date for the new Peaky Blinders series yet, meaning it will be quite some time before it’s released. While we wait, you can now watch The Immortal Man on Netflix, along with all six seasons of the original Peaky Blinders show.
