Marvel and Disney are building excitement for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. At a recent Italian film event, Giornate Di Cinema Sorrento, Disney shared a sneak peek of the movie, revealing groupings of cast photos that are now being shared online.

Much of the lineup was expected. The actors who played the Fantastic Four were together, as were those from the Thunderbolts and X-Men. Characters like Shuri, M’Baku, and Namor were also grouped. However, there was a section that looked a lot like the team Sam Wilson is assembling as the new Avengers.

The slide featured Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, alongside Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Danny Ramirez as Falcon. Simu Liu, who plays Shang-Chi, was probably just outside the visible area.

Considering how the cast is grouped by team affiliations, Loki being positioned with Sam Wilson’s expected Avengers is significant. This hints that he might become a full-fledged Avenger in the upcoming film. Even if he doesn’t officially join, it strongly suggests his story will be closely connected to the adventures of Thor, Ant-Man, Captain America, Falcon, and Shang-Chi.

Loki Being An Official Avenger Makes Sense For Doomsday

I’ve always loved Loki – for a long time, he was the classic MCU villain. But things really shifted for him, and I think it officially happened in Phase 4. That version of Loki, the one we met in Avengers: Endgame, went on this amazing journey over the two seasons of his own show. It was incredible to watch him grow and actually start prioritizing other people, using all that power for good instead of mischief. It really cemented his status as more of a hero, honestly.

Instead of having Loki return to being a villain in the upcoming movie, it would make more sense for him to be an enemy of Doctor Doom. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean he needs to become a full-fledged Avenger. The story could simply show him working alongside the new team while Thor tries to keep him safe from a threat that spans multiple universes.

I’m thinking this setup might sideline Loki a bit, possibly positioning him as someone being protected, all to thwart Doom’s schemes. But after seeing his recent heroic arc, honestly, he’s earned a significant role – one that really highlights just how much this Loki has changed. He deserves to be more than just a pawn!

Officially making Loki an Avenger would be amazing – especially seeing him fight alongside Thor! It would also be a fitting next step in his character development, and could even bring his story to a satisfying close. Hopefully, the teased possibility in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday becomes a reality.
