If you have young children at home and either the Disney Channel or Disney+ on your television, it’s likely that you’re familiar with Vampirina – a delightful animated character who happens to be a vampire. Her family migrates from Transylvania to Pennsylvania, where she attempts to adjust to her new surroundings. Developed by Chris Nee and created by some of the same talented artists behind Disney’s Doc McStuffins, Vampirina has been a consistent part of Disney Junior programming for several years. From 2017 to 2021, Disney produced 75 episodes of this endearing series.
To me, it seems only a short while ago, but apparendy it’s been some time since then. Now, Vampirina – the character I thought would remain eternally youthful due to being a vampire – is starring in her own live-action series, “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire”. In this new show, Vampirina, played by Kenzi Richardson, transitions from being a young vampire to a “tween”, leaving her family behind to attend a boarding school specializing in the performing arts.
It’s possible that fans who grew up with the classic Vampirina cartoon, now somewhat older, might still hold fond memories of the show. To capture their lingering affection, you could create something new that would resonate with them and bring back those positive feelings (For instance, “Vampirina: The Nostalgia Edition” or a special episode featuring characters they grew attached to as children). And yes, even at 12 years old, one can experience a sense of nostalgia, although it might not be quite the same as an adult’s. (For example, “Man, I remember when I was four and a half, Vampirina felt like my favorite show in the whole world!”)
You can watch the trailer for Vampirina: Teenage Vampire below:
Here is the series official synopsis:
The story in ‘Vampirina: Teenage Vampire’ follows a young vampire girl named Vee who ventures out of Transylvania to attend a performing arts school. As she resides amongst humans for the first time, Vee conceals her vampire nature while pursuing her love for music. The task becomes more difficult when her protective father sends an overenthusiastic ghost to stay with her at the school. Originating from the widely-adored book series and the highly successful Disney Jr. program, Vampirina is a cherished character. ‘Vampirina: Teenage Vampire’ marks its debut as a live-action production.
The television series titled “Vamprina: The Teenage Vampire” will debut on Disney Channel on September 12, followed by its addition to Disney+’s collection on October 15. Time keeps moving forward for everyone, including our vampire friends.

13 Terrible Movie Lines So Bad They’ve Become Iconic
“They’re eating her! And then they’re going to eat me! Oh my goooood!”
In compiling a compilation of unforgettably odd dialogue, we couldn’t ignore one of the most legendary lines ever written from the film “Troll 2” (1990). Even if you haven’t watched it, you might still recognize this line and its peculiar delivery due to internet fame – that’s how good-bad it is. In a scene where Arnold (Darren Ewing) observes a girl turning into liquid vegetable matter for a band of goblins to consume, he expresses his observation in an offbeat stream-of-consciousness manner: “They’re consuming her! [Pause.] And then they’ll consume me next! [Longer pause.] Oh my goodness!!”. Despite the poor writing and questionable acting (with a fly sharing the screen for half of it), we can’t help but sympathize with Arnold. After all, they were indeed consuming her, and they do plan to consume him soon. (Oh my goodness!!!)
“Too bad YOU… will die!”
In Mortal Kombat Annihilation (1997), we won’t delve into all the backstory leading up to this movie, but the gist is that Outworld’s ruler, Shao Kahn, has revived Queen Sindel, mother of Kitana. His intention is to utilize Sindel’s power for an invasion of Earthrealm. When Kitana (Talisa Soto), who had been captured by Kahn’s troops, meets her mother, she expresses surprise, “Mother, you’re alive!” However, the heartwarming reunion swiftly turns tense as it becomes apparent that Sindel is under Kahn’s influence. Instead of welcoming her daughter, Sindel, played by Musetta Vander, points a finger and menacingly declares, “Too bad YOU… will die!” This line, though not particularly great on its own, pales in comparison to the atrocious hairdo that looks like it belongs on the Jersey Shore.
“Do you know what happens to a toad when it’s struck by lightning?”
In the final battle at the Statue of Liberty depicted in X-Men (2000), during the confrontation between the X-Men and Magneto’s Brotherhood of Mutants, Storm engages in a physical altercation with the antagonist Toad (Ray Park). Towards the end, she pushes him off the statue’s balcony. Hanging on for dear life by the tip of his tongue, Storm readies her finishing move, but not without making a humorous comment first. “Do you know what happens to a toad when it’s struck by lightning?” she queries, summoning clouds. “The same thing that happens to everything else.” Perhaps this statement could be refined for better clarity in the future.
“I think World War II just started!”
In the movie “Pearl Harbor” (2001), they tried to give a unique twist to the classic “We’ve got company!” phrase, with results that were quite awkward. During the Japanese attack on the Pearl Harbor naval base, character Danny Walker (played by Josh Hartnett) urgently calls aircraft mechanic Earl Sistern (Tom Sizemore). In the heat of the moment, he exclaims, anachronistically, “I think World War II has just begun!” This feels similar to saying “Things have just gotten serious,” but in a more noticeable manner. To keep things non-political, this line mirrors the American perspective on the war during that time, viewing it as something happening “over there” with no immediate impact. However, it’s important to note that the phrase “World War II” wasn’t widely used until 1945, when President Harry Truman formally named it, by which point the war was almost over.
“Looks like meat’s back on our menu, boys!”
The Lord of the Rings movies are known for their humorous portrayal of orcs as rough, working-class characters from Ken Loach films. Whenever they appear on screen, you can expect one of them to deliver a funny line that disrupts the fantasy atmosphere surrounding high fantasy scenes. A famous example of this occurs in The Two Towers when the orcs are debating whether to eat the kidnapped hobbits Merry and Pippin. After a fight breaks out, an orc’s head is cut off, and their commander Uglúk (Nathaniel Lees) declares: “It seems we can add meat back to our menu, lads!” The reason why Middle-earth’s orcs are familiar with the concept of a menu remains unexplained.
In this paraphrase, I tried to make the text more accessible and easier to read by simplifying some of the sentences and removing some of the colloquial language, while still preserving the original meaning and tone.
“I don’t like sand.”
In the Star Wars prequels, there’s no shortage of lines that have become iconic for all the wrong reasons. “What about the droid attack on the Wookiees?” or “This is where the fun begins.” or “I am the Senate.” But if we’re talking about iconic, we’re talking about sand, particularly the scene in Attack of the Clones where Anakin (played by Hayden Christensen) expresses his disdain for it to Padmé (Natalie Portman). As they stand on a balcony overlooking lush Naboo, he complains, “I don’t like sand. It’s harsh and rough and annoying, and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here, everything is soft [gulp] and smooth.” Despite the awkwardness of the line and Christensen’s delivery, it serves a thematic purpose. After all, Anakin’s dislike for sand reflects his resentment towards Tatooine, his childhood home that he despised, and his mother whom he had to leave behind. Unfortunately, the scene and their chemistry are disappointingly lackluster.
“It’s turkey time. Gobble gobble.”
In Gigli (2003), one can’t overlook its numerous flaws, such as the portrayal of a mentally challenged character by Justin Bartha, a questionable romance between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, where a macho man supposedly changes a woman who is otherwise a lesbian. However, it’s the dialogue that truly stands out as unforgivable. A particularly cringeworthy moment comes when Larry Gigli (Affleck) and his partner Ricki (Lopez) finally express their feelings. In a bizarre exchange, Ricki, reclining on the bed in a silky robe, mysteriously says “It’s turkey time,” to which Gigli responds with a puzzled “Huh??”. Ricki then prompts “Gobble gobble”, effectively killing any remaining romantic atmosphere with a groan. Interestingly, this movie was the starting point for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s real-life on-again-off-again relationship.
“What a story, Mark!”
The dialogue in “The Room” (2003) seems as though it was penned by an extraterrestrial, given Tommy Wiseau’s unique demeanor. However, this is what makes the dialogue memorable. Characters in “The Room” speak unlike anyone we know, almost like Sims who have recently learned English. In a scene on the rooftop that is etched in our memories, Mark (Greg Sestero) recounts to his friend Johnny (Wiseau) a tale about a woman who was involved with a dozen men, one of whom had brutally assaulted her so severely that she ended up in a hospital on Guerrero Street. Although this is a distressing story, instead of expressing concern, Johnny chuckles mechanically and says, “What a story, Mark!” It certainly is an intriguing story.
“Now dig on this.”
In the midst of being controlled by the symbiote during the film “Spider-Man 3” (2007), Peter Parker (played by Tobey Maguire) performs an unexpected act: He takes his date Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard) to a club and dances in a jazzy manner, hoping to embarrass his former love Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). The scene is questionable as to whether Peter was meant to look “cool”, but the club’s attendees seem to appreciate it when he moves a chair across the room. However, the most problematic aspect of this sequence from a thematic perspective is when Gwen realizes that the date was merely an attempt to make another woman feel inferior. On a more awkward note, Peter says, “Now dig on this,” and begins snapping his fingers and dancing suggestively. An honorable mention should be given to the earlier moment in the same scene where Peter flirts with the hostess, saying, “Find us some shade. Thanks, hot legs.” In this universe, Venom seems to transform Peter into a vintage gangster.
“You better hold on tight, spider monkey.”
As a die-hard Twilight fan, I’ve always wondered who came up with the iconically cringe dialogue, “You better hold on tight, spider monkey.” Well, it turns out it was none other than Robert Pattinson himself! If you’ve watched the Twilight commentaries or simply know Robert’s off-screen personality, this revelation might not be so shocking. You see, with most of the scenes shot between him and Kristen Stewart involving a lot of eye gazing rather than actual dialogue, it makes sense that Robert would seize the opportunity to add some humor. And now, knowing that behind-the-scenes detail, the inclusion of that now-infamous line feels almost endearing. Almost.
“I need the CHEMS!”
If you’ve watched the movie “The Bourne Legacy” (2012), starring Jeremy Renner as a genetically enhanced agent, you would have noticed that there’s a recurring theme of ‘enhancement drugs’, often referred to as ‘chems’. These drugs are given to agents to boost their mental and physical endurance. Throughout the movie, Aaron Cross (Renner) is in desperate need of these chems due to his dwindling supply. He continually pleads for them, shouting “Where are the CHEMS? I need the CHEMS!” at Rachel Weisz’s character. Every encounter between the two characters revolves around obtaining more chems, discussing their necessity, and whether Cross should continue using them. For goodness sake, provide this man with his chems!
“We some kind of Suicide Squad?”
In a charming yet noticeable manner, it’s hard not to appreciate when movie characters mention the title of their own film during the storyline. This happens in films like “Back to the Future,” “The Dark Knight,” and “Tenet.” It even occurs throughout all three “Lord of the Rings” movies. Regrettably, this trope also appears in “Suicide Squad,” albeit awkwardly. Particularly, they make Will Smith’s character, Deadshot, say it, during a conversation with his superior officer Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), as he learns that the government is forming a team of outcasts to face threats from metahumans. “Is that it?” he asks. “What? Are we some kind of Suicide Squad?” Indeed, you are!
“Somehow, Palpatine returned.”
Reflections on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Even if you’re a fan of “The Rise of Skywalker,” it’s hard to deny that the movie’s plot is confusing and jumbled. With so many new elements and characters introduced, it seems like the story should have been spread out over three movies instead of one. The film starts with the surprising return of Emperor Palpatine, who was believed to be dead. The movie offers little explanation for this unexpected event, merely having Poe Dameron (played by Oscar Isaac) deliver a casual line of dialogue: “We’ve decoded the intel from the First Order spy, and it confirms the worst-Palpatine has returned.” It’s easy to imagine the filmmakers struggling to figure out how Palpatine could return before ultimately adding that line to the script and moving on. Unfortunately, this is far from the movie’s worst moment, but “They fly now” is a particularly disappointing line in a long list of iconic bad lines.
In this paraphrase, I tried to maintain the original’s tone while making the language more accessible and natural-sounding. I also removed some repetitive phrasing and added some transitions for better flow. The core ideas and criticisms remain the same.
