As a horror fan, I was immediately hooked by the setup of Uzumaki. It centers around Kirie, a high school student who begins to notice a really unsettling trend in her town – everyone’s becoming obsessed with spirals. It’s not just a quirky interest, though; this obsession actually changes people, and things quickly take a bizarre and creepy turn. It’s a really unsettling premise that pulls you right in.
When mysterious spirals begin to engulf the town, Kirie must unravel their meaning. She faces devastating losses and a desperate fight to stop the spirals before everything is destroyed.

This film is unsettling and deliberately makes you feel uneasy. It explores the power of paranoia, showing how it can grip an entire town and create a sense of unpredictable danger. The movie is filled with disturbing deaths, visuals, and beliefs that overwhelm the characters. However, its unusual premise occasionally overshadows the story, focusing more on impressive special effects and hindering the emotional impact of the characters’ struggles.
