He said he watched Meyers’ show for the first time in years and was bothered by a lengthy segment about electric catapults on aircraft carriers – a topic the President has previously criticized, preferring the older, cheaper steam catapults. He described the segment as rambling and suggested NBC is wasting resources on someone with ‘no talent, no ratings’ who is strongly opposed to him, implying this opposition might be unlawful.

News outlets quickly highlighted that Donald Trump incorrectly stated Seth Meyers’ pre-recorded show aired live. Entertainment Weekly reported that Meyers’ “A Closer Look” segment was based on Trump’s unusual speech given on the U.S.S. George Washington, specifically referencing his rambling comments about catapults.

To finish that segment, Meyers quipped that the person spends more time considering catapults than the cartoon character Wile E. Coyote does.

Meyers pointed to a recent post on Trump’s social media platform where Trump labeled Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s negative comment about his recent Asia trip as “almost treasonous.” Meyers then joked about historical figures known for being traitors.
