Transformers Rolls Out Official New Flagship Release Starring G1 Soundwave

Soundwave, the famously emotionless and robotic Decepticon, is almost as well-known as Megatron himself. Now, Robosen is releasing a new, fully automated toy version of this classic villain, complete with his signature voice and iconic vehicle form.

The Robosen Flagship Soundwave is the most detailed version of the classic Generation 1 character. This incredible toy automatically transforms from robot to cassette player mode, but that’s not all – it also functions as a Bluetooth speaker, making this iconic Decepticon ready for action and music.

Soundwave Gets Major Update With New Robosen Transformers Toy

This new Soundwave toy from Robosen is officially licensed by Hasbro and designed to look just like the original character from the classic Transformers cartoon. It features a detailed, movie-quality paint job that brings the iconic character to life with the colors fans know and love.

Soundwave’s buttons have a shiny, metallic finish, and he still has his original weapons: a cannon on his shoulder and a blaster built from parts of his vehicle form. To recreate his classic design, he transforms from a robot – whose head inspired the Decepticon logo – into a cassette player. While he can’t actually play tapes in this form, Soundwave has plenty of tricks up his sleeve this time around.

Soundwave, a Bluetooth speaker that plays your favorite tunes – including the iconic Transformers theme and Stan Bush’s “The Touch” – can also record sounds and voice commands. Packed with 84 microchips, 28 precision servo motors, and 6-axis motion sensors, this incredible toy transforms all by itself.

I’ve been watching this Soundwave figure, and it’s really impressive. It doesn’t just stand there – it can actually walk and turn in a lot of different ways, so it feels like a fully independent character. What’s really cool is that fans can program it to do all sorts of things and then share those programs with others. And get this – it can connect with the Robosen transforming toy, letting Soundwave unleash a whole range of destructive sounds at the Autobots. It’s like having the full soundtrack of villainy at your fingertips!

Soundwave’s impressive character is completed by his unique sounds. In addition to the iconic transformation noise from the original G1 series, he features over 200 voice lines, all expertly performed by the legendary Frank Welker – who also voiced Megatron! While this version doesn’t include his Recordicon companions, they are planned for release as separate toys in the future.

He’s a valuable new member of the Decepticons, helping Megatron fight against the transforming toys from Robosen – specifically those of Autobot leaders Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. The toy is available for purchase now on the Robosen website, but it’s quite expensive. Currently on sale for $999.99 as an early bird special, this is the most expensive Soundwave figure ever created. It’s scheduled to ship in April 2026, and this Decepticon is ready to bring trouble for the Autobots.
