Tracker Season 3’s Controversial Cast Shake-Up Just Officially Paid Off Big Time

As a big fan of Tracker, I was surprised by some of the changes they made to the cast, but it totally paid off in the season finale! In the latest episode, “Good Trouble,” we saw the return of Colter Shaw’s friend, John Keaton. He needed Colter’s help to find his old partner, Nat Dobbs, and it was great to see them working together again on a new case.

Colter returns a favor to Keaton – who previously helped him solve the long-standing mystery of Gina Picket’s disappearance – by agreeing to assist him in the latest case. But their investigation quickly lands them in serious trouble, caught in the middle of a dangerous criminal conspiracy, and they’re left with little hope for escape as the season ends.

Colter Shaw’s Team Is Processing Massive Changes In Tracker Season 3

Colter is going through some big life changes, including the recent departure of two close friends and colleagues. Reenie Green shares that Velma Bruin will help save her marriage to Teddi, and Randy announces that Bobby has found a stable new job. These updates explain why some characters are leaving the show.

Things have definitely shifted in Colter since Velma and Bobby left. The changes continue in Season 3, Episode 3 of Tracker, when Reenie brings on a new lawyer, Melanie Day (played by Cassady McClincy), nicknamed Mel. Mel appears to be taking over some of Velma’s old responsibilities at the firm.

The changes in the team affect both who Colter works with and how they collaborate. Randy is now based in Denver, splitting his time between Reenie’s legal firm and Colter’s investigations. Mel also frequently visits Reenie’s office, meaning anyone regularly assisting Colter is now in the same location.

Reenie May Save Colter’s Life In Tracker Season 3’s Midseason Premiere

Shaw’s team works from a central office, a change from Colter’s previous team which was mostly remote. This creates a stronger sense of teamwork, and it might even have saved Colter’s life. In the season finale of Tracker, Reenie is concerned about Colter, and thanks to Randy’s support, she’s able to fully act on her instincts.

Reenie is concerned when she can’t get in touch with Colter. Randy tries calling him too, and quickly offers to help find him. Randy is skilled at locating people online and discovers Colter is traveling, but Green remains uneasy.

Reenie is correct – Colter is in a dangerous situation. When a hitman connected to the larger plot shoots Keaton, Colter can’t get a signal on his phone to call for assistance. Luckily, Shaw’s team was able to locate them after their car was shot at and they drove off the road.

Even when Randy is ready to move on, Reenie persists, discovering another shell company linked to Armenian crime boss Zhan Menassian (Arnab Biswas) that sent money to Dobbs. As Randy and Reenie investigate further, they could uncover crucial information that helps Colter.

Colter’s Dangerous Fall Finale Case Justifies Tracker Season 3’s Casting Changes

Reenie and Randy’s quick response to Colter’s needs shows that the recent changes to Shaw’s team are working well. Previously, Reenie worried about Colter, like in Episode 2 and the Season 3 premiere, but couldn’t find him to check on his well-being.

With Randy assisting her, Reenie is now in a stronger position to help Shaw find Colter, highlighting how well Colter’s team works together this season. While Reenie has used Colter’s brother to locate him before, it’s not a long-term solution, and Randy is simply more efficient at tracking him down.

While others had some idea where Colter was, no one could help him as quickly. Throughout the first season of the show, the Bruins frequently knew Shaw’s location and occasionally alerted Green so she could unexpectedly visit him. However, as Reenie’s role expanded, she needed to find better ways to handle things.

Although the season finale of Tracker doesn’t show Reenie and Randy being able to help Colter right away, their concern for him and efforts to find him are encouraging. Reenie’s instincts and willingness to follow through on them might be what ultimately saves Colter and Keaton’s lives.
