Colter Shaw might lose another teammate in season 3 of Tracker. The show has been a ratings success for CBS, which currently has the most-watched scripted series on television. Tracker quickly gained a large audience when it premiered in 2024, and even with a slight dip in viewers, it remains a top performer.
What’s remarkable about Justin Hartley’s show, Tracker, is how well it’s done despite a lot of cast changes in its short run. The team around Colter has been significantly reshaped, first with Teddi leaving before season two, and then Velma and Bobby before season three. Currently, he relies on Reenie and Randy, but recent plot developments suggest he’s about to lose another teammate.
Tracker Season 3, Part 2 Hints At Keaton’s Death
As a viewer, I was really intrigued to see Keaton back on Tracker this fall, especially since this time he was the one needing help. After assisting with Colter’s cold case in season two, their dynamic was instantly compelling. Despite only a few encounters, a genuine friendship had formed, so it wasn’t surprising to see Colter immediately jump in when Keaton started investigating the disappearance of his old partner. What began as a fairly simple missing persons case quickly escalated into something far more dangerous than either of them expected. The season three finale left us on a major cliffhanger – a devastating car crash that has me desperately awaiting the next season!
Despite the show being renewed for another season, it’s unclear what happened to Keaton. He was already hurt before the car accident, and Colter was driving him to the hospital when the crash occurred. Given his existing injuries and the lack of immediate medical care, it’s possible Keaton won’t survive the events of the season finale, “The Fallout.”
Why Keaton’s Death Will Be A Massive Loss For Tracker
Tracker has experienced loss before, and he hasn’t known Keaton as long as some of his other friends like Velma, Teddi, and Bobby. However, what makes Brent Sexton’s character different is that he consistently accompanies Colter in the field. This is significant because Colter is accustomed to working alone and facing danger by himself. Since meeting Keaton, though, he’s found a dependable and trustworthy partner.
Keaton’s character is one-of-a-kind, making his potential death in season 3 of Tracker particularly heartbreaking. CBS doesn’t need to feature him in every episode, but it’s crucial that Colter has a reliable ally in the Pacific Northwest – someone who’s willing to face danger alongside him when a case demands it. This relationship offers a different dynamic than the one he shares with Reenie and the rest of his team.
